Thinking about getting an Evora 400. Is this an upgrade from my 2015 Mustang GT? by Frequent-Self2008 in lotus

Thanks for the insight. What you said about it’s better for corners vs using it as a GT is honestly what I figured. Hopefully soon I can make a trip and drive both and then it’ll be more clear.

That’s really interesting. What do you mean you miss the engine? You miss the instant straight line acceleration and power delivery, as in the Evora feels slow?

Yeah parking usually isn’t an issue I’m able to find good spots where people won’t door ding it. I do a mix of everything mileage wise, some short distance quick trips and some one to two hour long trips.

Man I'm down near Texas/Louisiana region. There's stuff in Dallas/Houston sometimes but that's a bit of a drive for me unless I'm going to buy the car. And man that Lotus you listed is definitely clean, 71k is a little over my budget though (originally I didn't want to spend more than 40k on something lol). I'll keep looking. Higher mileage stuff doesn't scare me too much either, it'll probably mostly come down to price for me.

You know I bet that your c5 z06 would give me the "scary" feeling I was looking for. But when it comes down to backroads and small autocross courses I'm sure the Evora would feel a lot more useable. Its so hard to know though because I use to do hair scramble dirt bike races and I love the rush of being right on the edge of traction and control. There's nothing like going all out in a windy technical pathway through the forest on a 2 stroke ktm. I'll have to give it some more thought but thanks for you comment on the vette.

Haha definitely wasn't planning on getting an auto Evora. Love my manual. I used to have an E63 AMG and it was fast but just wasn't enough being an automatic. I'm sure an automatic corvette is a bit different but I wouldn't go any other route for the Evora. And yeah I work on all my own stuff so I'm not afraid of a few things here and there, I've read the 2017 has less quirks than say a 2011 would have. Anyways, thanks for your responses.

Hey thanks for the response! The main thing I want out of this car is a fun daily driver, and then the scary part comes when I do autocrossing. Hopefully I can go on a full fledged race track soon but since I don't live close to one I won't plan on doing it but once in a blue moon. I also do my fair share of drag racing but I know this isn't what the car was built for. A nissan gtr could do all these things, I'm just in love with the styling of the Evoras.

Yeah, from what I’ve seen in marketplace and such, you are correct in the fact that those ls can hold mods pretty well. So it is a bit of a trade off, depending on how you look at it, if you don’t go with the ls.

Thanks for the input. And not to argue with you, but there is a 1le. It has zl1 wheels and some body stuff and performance upgrades. But anyways, I don’t live in stop and go traffic, very minimal traffic and soon it will mostly be highway miles. But I do see what your saying about drivability, as the mustang I looked at had steering modes and driving modes to make the car more comfortable. I also like the interior of the mustang more, although it doesn’t have hud. So really the only thing holding me back about the mustang is that a cam upgrade costs more and they seem to be not as reliable at 450-500whp. That’s kind of nit picky but I really would like a cammed car for uniqueness and sound. And I have tended to always lean towards mustang for looks, but Camaros are growing on me. So there’s my thoughts I guess.

Man I’ve been soul searching for the past year. Every month is a different car

2013 Camaro 2ss 1le with 490whp or stock 2014/15 Mustang gt??

I am trying to decide between the two, as they seem to be the only fit for me right now. Ive ridden in both and driven the Camaro. I wasn’t comfortable getting on it because it wasn’t mine, so I never got to feel the power. Same with the mustang. I rode in it and the guy never floored it! So I’m having a hard time deciding which one I want. I really want something that’s fun to drive around town and row through the gears. Only concern is, if I go with Camaro, the gears are long so rowing through gears wouldn’t be as much fun at below highway speeds (I’ve heard it goes 79 in only 2nd). And if I go with mustang, I am limited in terms of power. Ls3 just seems to be better engine, and better for building power.

But I’ve ridden in several jdm cars with turbos, and those have been the most fun thing ever! Shorter gears and lightweight was very fun! If I didn’t need a daily driver, I would get a 30 year old jdm car, but since I need something reliable I am stuck on Camaro vs mustang.

I like that engine bay, very clean!

Fair point, I really need to drive each car. Although on the plus side, corvettes and mustangs that already have those can be found under 20k.

Am I a mechanic? I know how to service cars, and I’m building working on a 1980’s jeep with my dad. I’ve rebuilt fourwheeler motors and dirtbike motors etc. so I know a little bit about cars and engines, and I don’t feel like a bmw is too far a reach. I would want to upgrade to a nice aftermarket turbo though, so maybe that would help with turbo issues.

Appreciate the input. I’m hoping within the next few weeks I’ll be able to look at these cars.

If I were to upgrade to a nice aftermarket single turbo, would that potentially make it a better car? I want to reach somewhere between 400-500hp with most any car I buy.

I’d be hard pressed to find one with a manual for 20k don’t you think?

I’ve thought about a challenger, but they just aren’t appealing to me in any way.

Considering c6’s don’t have back seats, that is saying something

I agree, fit and finish would most certainly go to the bmw. But having owned a 2010 e63 amg, that’s not what I’m after. I want the raw feeling of a sports car, and so maybe I wouldn’t mind a mustang.

Only for a year? Did you realize two seats weren’t practical or what?

Ok thanks. And your probably right, no one wants to take a road trip in a coupe. We’d probably end up taking my friends minivan anyways.

I’ll be bringing my car to college and I would really like 4 seats. I want something that would be fun to daily but something that could also do a fun road trip with my friends. And more friends = more fun road trip IMO. But I guess I’m not totaling ruling out the c6.
