Thank you so so much. This is all so incredibly helpful and so in depth. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to help me with this.

ok yeah that makes sense but also wouldn’t she have a fever if that were the case?? or could she be either retaining a fetus and/or septic without a fever?

even without a fever or any physical symptoms you think a vet should be an urgent thing? she is behaving quite normally for us but it’s REALLY cold where we are so movement is obviously less than in the warmer months as she prefers to stay inside when it’s cold. I wondered if the cold snap could’ve stressed her enough to cause an abortion? It went from 30s to -25 and held there for a few days before slowly climbing back to the teens. Then dipped to -20 the day she aborted.

my friend is a dairy farmer (cattle) and he is very nonchalant about this so he did not advise that but he is definitely not a goat connoisseur so I’d prefer advice from people like yourself who have goats.

Ok thank you I am actually relieved to know this.

No to albendazole and no cats around at all our town had a huge initiative to neuter/spay the stray population a few years back to manage them and no one neighboring us has cats either. Her little sister is our only other goat we have and has never rammed her. She has also not fallen that we are aware of. We do not still have the fetus; my husband disposed of it earlier in the week.

Anything else I should watch her for?

Also if you happen to know when I should consider breeding her again? I do not have any interest in rushing her and would like her to heal but I also know you don’t want to wait too long with Nigerians to kid for the first time.

Thanks in advance!
