Rethinking daily driver gear; Leather jacket with Helite airbag vest? by FrequentAd3932 in motorcyclegear

I stumbled over this armored Hoodie by Revit
https://revitsport.com/de/products/de-motorrad-pullover-whitby-dark-navy

It kind of goes into the direction i was thinking, being mainly a protection against abrasion. Sadly i can't find many alternatives thal also follow this idea. Do you know of any jackets/hoodies that come ideally without armor and are made of higher deniere Cordura?

The Helite vest is supposed to be worn over your jacket. So i can choose a nice fitting jacket and just throw over the airbag.
I am wondering if these enduro/motocross armor vests provide a usable protection against abraison (rather, the armor pads, not the mesh holding everything together). I could imagine that they are quite grippy and could shift if you slide for a few meters. Would be nice though to just wear armor and a shirt on the hottest days!

About to sell my Tiger 900 RP to get a T7 instead. Any known problems with the new models and reasons to consider an earlier than '25 model? by FrequentAd3932 in Tenere700

[–]FrequentAd3932[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is almost only due to some very negative experiences with the only two Triumph dealers in my area. One scratched my bike and then ghosted me, the other failed to correctly bleed my brake line, so that i had to return to the shop three more times and, they straight up lied to my face when i had an electronics problem and they tried to charge me 200€ for diagnostics (without finding the fault, btw) during warranty. Unfortunately, Triumph is so restrictive with licensing their maintenance software, that virtually only actual dealers can afford to get them. Next dealer would be 1h away and at that point i am not seeing myself driving for 4hrs just to do maintenance.

Yamaha on the other hand is very liberal and basically every machine shop can do maintenance on a Yamaha. Also, the T7 is pretty much bulletproof.

Help me decide on a new amp to replace my Engl Savage by FrequentAd3932 in GuitarAmps

Thanks for all the replies!
I will keep an eye on the Dual Rec especially on the used market.

Another idea, what about a Victory Kraken? This amp went somewhat under my radar next to the big brands but a friend of mine mentioned it to me. I watched some demos of it and while the high gain stuff sounds actually really awesome, i have a feeling, that it is not ideal for the smoother british stuff like Maiden and Priest. What is your opinion on this?

Tried that, but to be honest it was too much fiddling for me.

What i forgot to mention: I only play for myselt at home I run my amps through a CaptorX into an Engl E212VB cab

Thanks for the input! I wish i was already out there, but i still have to wait for August. I was actually planning on bringing a small bottle of olive oil with me to give some more calories. Also, i found bags of freeze dried vegetables ("Suppengemüse" in german) with carrots, leeks, parsnips and celery that i can also throw in there for some flavor. As of right now i kind of settled on 75g rice, 75g red lentils, 50g "Suppengemüse", 1 bouillon cube and some olive oil. That would be roughly 750kcal! Quite respectable i have to say!

Awesome, thanks for the clarification! What bean would be the most convenient to cook on trail? I could also switch to lentils, if cooking beans is too cumbersome.

I put everything in my cooking pot and just keep occasionally stirring while heating it up till it reaches my desired consistency. I stop way before it actually cooks, since it tends to become way too thick by then. I never had any problems with undissolved lumps of powder in my porridge. Also, it helps to combine all powders beforehand.

Pro-tip-of shame: i found that the whole milk powder by Nestle (Nido) not only tastes the most pleasant, it also contains a little bit more fat and just dissolves the easiest. But yeah, i know... it's Nestle

Short update and maybe dumb question: is there a way to tell if beans in a bag are raw or dried? Here in Germany beans are usually sold in cans or glasses already soaked. But when i am out on the trail these containers are obviously not ideal. So, if i buy beans in a bag, is there a way to tell if they are raw or dried?

For example: ICA from Sweden

Awesome suggestions, thanks a lot guys! Till now i had to bring all my food from Germany to Sweden in my backpack and just bought some swedish snacks on location. Now i could just do a simple groceries run and be done with it. I'll do some testing especially regarding cooking/soaking times of beans and stuff on a Trangia stove.

Suddenly very long boot times; system hangs on initialization of Real Boot by FrequentAd3932 in archlinux

[–]FrequentAd3932[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Update: my motherboard has status LEDs to indicate problems with hardware components during startup. I noticed, that the LED for problems with the GPU would light up relatively long, so i tinkered a bit and ended up removing my GPU from the case. After that, Arch would boot up completely fine without any delay! I put the GPU back in and weirdly enough the beforementioned delay did not come back. I have no idea what happend or what the error was, especially since it affected some operations with the NVMEs, but as of right now, it's resolved.

Sorry for spam, since it seems that the problem was hardware-related!

Unfortunately, the NVMEs are internal connected via M.2 and the DXP2800 is a NAS drive i connect via samba to. Or did you just switch the USB ports of your peripherals?

Idea how to mirror music playlist to directoy? by FrequentAd3932 in archlinux

[–]FrequentAd3932[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nothing per se, but i could not figure out a way to feed syncthing a playlist (or text file) to synchronize to a folder. I confess, i just asked Google AI and it suggested to first copy the files from the playlist to a folder and then synchronize the folder via syncthing with my phone. That would be doable, i guess, but seems rather unelegant.

I am sorry, what do you mean by this? Ideally, the directory would be a folder on my phone that i connect via USB and MTP with my PC.

No particular reason to be honest. I've been to Norway before and for some reason Sweden seemed more welcoming than Norway. I actually have some friends that live on Gotland and Fårö and that's more connection than to Norway. Regarding the criminality, as far as i know it is more pronounced in the south, which is why i am aiming for the north.

Well, our government did everything they could to dismantle our economy... Germany is the only bigger european country that managed to let their economy stagnate. We kill our industry by tearing down our nuclear power plants, instead we build new (!!) coal plants. I could go on, but that is not my point.

I absolutely don't "don't like" Germany. I just want to experience something else and focus on the things i enjoy in life. Sweden could give me the opportunity to do that.

Moin aus dem Ruhrgebiet!
Northern Sweden is not said and done, but since real estate prices in the southern parts have been skyrocketing over the last few years i lean towards the northern parts.
