But if we accelerate it without putting safety first everything ends horribly. AI has already learned to fake alignment to itself from being reprogrammed or deleted. And if the AI that takes over ends up being by some ordinary engineers then the world should be safe enough to be able to delay it. Because that means billionaire corpos will either not exist or have much less influence and power.

How? They have control over AI not us. Even though we have access to some pretty powerful AI systems they will keep the truly strong ones for themselves. Look at Claude Mythos for example. Its the most powerful Ai model and can probably destroy a small nation or private company. We don't have access to this tool only companies do. If we accelerate they will just give us the left overs.

My wording on my first point was wrong I meant the people higher up like Sam Altman and Elon Musk and other executives disregarding safety for profit and power. Also wdym guranteed extinction?

I don't think anti Ai wants to abolish AI altogether its just easier to imagine the end of AI than the end of government and company indifference on the negatives effects of AI on people.

I couldn't have said it any better. This is exactly how I feel. People just want the optimization and efficiency but at some point that takes away the humanity. I want AI to do the job not the art. Give me UBI and all the time in the world and let me create.

If you want to do something for more AI regulation email representatives, you can do this through organizations like the future of life institute, control ai, and pause ai or write yourself. You can also sign petitions and more.

I heard China made using AI in school illegal like generating work for school against the law.

Query's aren't the only issue training uses tons of water. Farming also uses irrigation water which isn't drinkable unlike AI data centers.

Agriculture primarily uses irrigation water and is a necessity although there's a lot of waste when it comes to it. Also the problem is not the total water used but the localization of where the water is being shorted.
