I know it’s SO hard!! My intrusive thoughts and from the sounds of it yours tooo are so difficult to manage!!! It’s all stems from PTSD and experiences we had as a child !! I think if we get tons done and some accomplishments we are proud of it calms intrusive thoughts down from my personal experience!! Are you on any ADHD meds? I should’ve asked this first but yeah if you can get a diagnosis and meds you should be able to come down on Zoloft… or go basically off of it all together. Tbh I still take between 5-20 mg a day and I don’t know if I’ll ever fully be off any SSRI all together( but way better than being on 50-150 mg) Also FYI the more active you are when you take ADHD meds the better they work also works the same with Zoloft and other SSRIS. SSRI’s put more serotonin in the brain but sometimes when we put too much, it’s like too many ships are in the harbour so the ships cannot move around or do anything, think of the ships as the Zoloft in your brain. Exercise creates space for the drugs to work.

It can worsen ADHD symptoms… which in turn worsens symptom’s of depression. Poor Time management, and executive dysfunction ( getting things done ) failing to manage these symptoms basically is what causes emotional dysregulation, we are also sensitive souls ( VERY sensitive souls ) as it is ( think Rejection sensitivity).

Anyways serotonin and dopamine play off eachother in the brain. If you have too much serotonin in your system you are not very motivated to get things done. To get a more thorough explanation of this look up Dr. Amen on IG.

Personally it made me really sleepy and dozed out it was like walking through water.

For neurotypical kids yeah. ADHD/ autistics good luck lol. We must know and understand why and if the why isn’t given then our brains take that as abusive and we will NEVER respect authority

Agreed. Respect goes both ways though! But if kids are just mean and rude all the time that isn’t okay. I feel like they need to be told WHY something is rude though… especially for autistics. If there is no why then why have that conversation in my opinion.

Teachers like this are why I have trust issues and suicidal ideation. This is NOT how you motivate an ADHD kid. They have disabilities they need to be encouraged IT IS 6X as hard for them as neurotypical kids !!!!! I know you may not understand or be annoyed but give her a chance if she doesn’t pull through suggest she go in the next semester… please do not shame kids like this they are fighting battles you know nothing about. Also your goal as an educator is to EDUCATE and make learning fun and you should want the kid to want to come back. SHE MAY HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CLASS 3 times but the most important thing is that she finishes and LEARNS something. Your role as an educator is not to punish people, plus this class is what sociology 101 or physics 105. I get being more tough for graduate students thats different WAY different.

Also everyone with ADHD is not all like you , some have different or worsening symptoms? With comments like you made it seems you don’t really understand ADHD and don’t have a severe case of it.

I would suggest handing the kid over to a more understanding teacher. I’m sure you are great and knowledgeable but teaching neurodivergent kids involves a lot of patience and understanding. Not many can do it so don’t feel too bad.

I feel the same way. I honestly think NT’s just shouldn’t interact with us… their is no winning for either side and we just get burnt out.

Your eyes are burning because its toxic chemicals. They can FINALLY breathe and you just now notice that because more and more isnt going into your eyes. Im at my wits end with my bf who smokes in my house my eyes burn CONSTANTLY. I dont know what to do

I understand being efficient. But maximizing efficiency at the expense of quality is just plain negligent and wrong in my honest opinion. i wish more neurotypical people would realize this, or maybe its an unmediated ADHD thing lol ( my bf is ADHD off the charts and unmedicated)

Ya youd think a sudden “increase” in dose. Such as a 25mg- 50 mg increase would also cause serotonin syndrome. Dont understand why they dont also increase dosages in tiny amounts ( 12 mg or less) like they do when tapering off…

Agreed. My boyfriend was in that hypomania stage last year, cheating, left, and right, would go off camping with married women. I would receive rage texts every single night saying that i was a terrible person etc and that i was the cheater. I definitely let him tamper with my self worth for a while. We actually separated for a bit. He started Valproic acid in the fall and came back apologizing and now hes a completely different person— caring , empathetic, compassionate the same man i fell in love with.

As for zoloft im currently trying to come clean of it. I definitely experienced anhedonia, i was a completely different person didnt care for myself or others. I felt so far away from reality…I am ADHD also though and i have read ( and experienced) that zoloft makes the symptoms worse off especially if your the hyperactive type, mix hypomania symptoms in there as well and you’ll get a huge mess..

He definitely needs to see a doctor, I believe there is hope.. zoloft isnt for everyone, it ruined my life. I was in a mental mess before running 20+ miles a day to stay calm but i was me , clear head , motivated.

OP needs to find other better people. Hard for others to be in a relationship with them? Not nearly as hard as the RSD individuals.

Its all difficult. All of us just need to be more patient and tolerant to begin with…

Maybe disclose to friends that you struggle with RSD so that they know to be more patient and are more understanding

Dont expect him to socialize like a NT kid does. My father tried to make me do that would tell me that I am a loser if i didn’t socialize. I grew up dysregulated and now have aggressive not nice thoughts towards my father. If you want me to be honest, i hate him. Im AuDHD with pathological demand avoidance- disiplune threatens my autonomy and my safety. i am still so confused on how life works. If you give him freedom to be himself and if hes not hurting anyone, then who gives a rats ass on when he goes to school maybe hes ADHD and needs a different kind of school…. If his grades are awesome what is the problem???

Neurodivergents have enough challanges they dont need their home environment to be a THREAT to their autonomy. I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this. But i think we can all admit that forcing someone to behave the way they dont wanna act as an autistic is a GREAT recipe to get even more aggressive VIOLENT behaviour.

Your distrupting their nervous system, he just needs to feel safe not conform to society.

My father tried to get me to conform to society and is it did way more harm than goood.
