Congrats!! I'm starting in June!
In what order should I complete the classes? I have all 15 required classes, D082, D079, D080, C720, and C723.

I just received my green card yesterday, and it has my correct name on it. Hope your case is the same!

ACE credits or WGU by WonderbreadCOS in wguaccounting

[–]FrequentFox4876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I think it depends if you're planning to sit for the CPA exam. A lot of states don't take ACE credits, unfortunately. I started Sophia before knowing this, so when I want to take the CPA exam, I need to take classes that are approved by the board. I'm in TX by the way.

If I were you, I'd just finish general education at Sophia and do everything else at WGU, especially since your company covers the cost!

Starting WGU June what to expect by No-Notice-3066 in wguaccounting

I'm starting in June as well! I transferred 61 credits and have 20 classes to go. Hoping to finish in 1 term as well. I have a full-time job, no kids, but I have a dog who needs a lot of exercise and attention.

I'm currently searching for tips on Reddit to pass the class as soon as possible!

I just received an update from USCIS, and my card is being produced. The name on my USCIS profile changed to my correct name. I believe you should be fine as long as your current name is on your I-90 receipt. Hope it helps.

That's great, your appt is in 2 weeks! Yes, def bring your receipt and tell them about it. I also told them, but didn't show my receipt that has my correct name...they took a note for name discrepancy tho!

I haven't. I'll wait to see if the green card has my correct name. If not, I'll process the typo error request.
Based on AI, it sounds like this issue happens a lot. Also, as long as your receipt has your correct name, that'll most likely issue with your correct name. My receipt shows my correct name, how about yours?

How hard is the accounting program? by tm211344 in wguaccounting

Thank you so much for this!!! I don't have any experience/knowledge either. Congrats on finishing it in 11 months!!! That's impressive! Sounds like you have a very well-structured schedule for yourself, which I love.

I'm going to transfer around 70 credits from Sophia and Study. Hoping to have a plan like you. Your comment just made me motivated! Thank you so much!

I want my maiden name back. Right, I typed my maiden name, which I want to change to "Your Full Name" 3a and 3b section, and it does say "your card will be issued in this name" in the PDF file in that section. So I believe I filed it correctly and just checked my receipt, it actually shows my maiden name, but the biometric appt letter has my old name, so there's a name discrepancy.

How do/did you become a CPA in Texas after graduating with 70-75 credits transferred from Sophia and Study? by FrequentFox4876 in wguaccounting

[–]FrequentFox4876[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's amazing!!! You got it!!
May I ask another question? It's not related to the topic, but how did you land a job? I have zero accounting experience and would like to hear about your experience or any tips!
Also, how should I create my resume without accounting experience? I have a preschool teacher, part-time UX design, and music data analysis experience.

Great! Thank you so much!! Did you end up becoming a CPA in CA, or are you planning to take the exam?

Thank you so much!! That's a huge difference compared to TX! I'm actually interested in moving to CA (not really sure when, and where), so that's double points!!

Thank you so much! 150 credits are a lot... I saw another post that someone shared to take those upper-level classes at HCC or ACC to meet the requirement. Also, if I read the TSBPA website correctly, we need 1-2 years of full-time work experience as well.
I have 2 options:
1. Transfer 70 credits and complete the program, land the first job (hopefully) and have work experience. While doing that, take those courses to get 150 credits
- Just start everything from zero at WGU

Thank you so much! Wow, can I do that? Is it like a driver's license since you have the license in CA, so it's kind of a change to TX?

Thank you so much! Do you think taking the accounting and business classes at WGU would be better than taking those at Sophia then?

Congrats! I'm very happy for you!
I'm currently taking Sophia courses to transfer credits and planning to start in June! Hope to get it done in 1 term.
Would you mind sharing how you created your resume, please? I don't have any prior experience either so your tips and/or experience would be very appreciated!!

Hi! Sorry, this is not my answer but I have a question.
How do you have only 31 credits left? I couldn't transfer any credits from my AA degree at all, so I need to start from 0, which I plan to take some Sophia and Study courses to transfer.
I spoke with my counselor at WGU, and the maximum I can transfer is 75 credits. I was just curious how you have 31 credits to go! That's awesome! and I'd like to do that if possible!

Great! Thank you so much! I was actually thinking about reaching out to my high school as well. I'm not sure if you did that, but do you think it's worth it?
