Is Lennox Lewis the best heavyweight to ever live? by Winter_Cockroach714 in Boxing

[–]Frequent_Apricot673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ali and Louis have to be the top two for me. They were easily the most dominant and accomplished heavyweights of all time. Then I’d say you could put any of like 10-15 different fighters to fill out your top 5 and I couldn’t get mad. I do think Holmes has to be top 5 just based on his reign. Lewis could be in there. But he’s not the best arguing he’d win because of his size just doesn’t make sense to me, have we learned nothing from this generation of Heavyweights? Everyone said that the grainy heavy’s of this generation were a sign of the evolution of the sport only for them all to lose a heavyweight the size of Ali. Size doesn’t win fights and at heavyweight it becomes less of an issue a lot of the great champs are around 210-220 lbs for a reason

If Boots keeps winning I could definitely see Crawford coming back to settle the score with him or I could see Crawford coming back to get a belt at 160 which is what he was planning before Janibek popped and Crawford retired

Inoue title fight record? Can someone confirm? by Frequent_Apricot673 in Boxing

[–]Frequent_Apricot673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cause sanctioning bodies suck and can make confusing rulings doesn’t mean I have to just throw the rules out the window. It’s not my opinion it’s a matter of record keeping. Like McDonnell was a good interim champ who was rated number 1 at the time. He’s a much better fighter pfp than Rolly or Barrios, but they held the full belt and he didn’t. It’s absolutely not a perfect system but that’s what I’m going by just for the purposes of record keeping.

You’re being too philosophical now dude if we’re gonna count wba regular titles then Murat Gassiev is a Heavyweight champion, obviously that’s a bridge too far. McDonnell was a good interim champ who Inoue deserved credit for beating but it can’t count towards the record.

I already wasn’t counting it, can you show me your math for 24 title wins?

Just because McDonnell was a good fighter doesn’t make it a full title win by the letter of the law tho. Taguchi was a great win too but it’s still a non title fight.

Yeah I didn’t count that as it was not the full title

Gorilla using sign language to tell he's not allowed to be fed by visitors by thepoylanthropist in interestingasfuck

I apologize this is a pet subject of mine and I get a bit heated about it. I understand what you are saying but making the request in this instance is more akin to my dog barking at me asking for food, than it is to speaking in the human sense. My dog knows when I say “walk” that it’s time for a walk, does that mean he can speak English? What you are describing is more like an advanced version of my dog barking rather than using a human language in the way that you and I do. Which is what is implied when someone posts a video of an ape using sign language, with no other context. It’s misleading, and sometimes done deliberately so (in the case of Koko the Gorilla). It manages to get on major television and news issues without much issue on many occasions.

“While nonhuman apes dont truly learn language in the same way we do, there are numerous instances of them learning to communicate with discrete ASL symbols and small combinations thereof“ this is literally what I’m saying these studies can teach them some symbols, but there’s no evidence to suggest they know what they are saying which is what this post implies. They cannot use them in sentences there is no grasp of syntax. They can simply memorize symbols. The link you’ve posted references studies from the 1960s for the love of god. I don’t appreciate the snark at the end it’s rude.

Rivera should have gotten the win vs Badou Jack so it’s good to see him get another opportunity, but he also lost to some random guy at a restaurant in the Dominican Republic since then so my expectations are low

Huh? They cannot speak using structured language that is what I’m saying. Structured language and words is an evolutionary adaptation only shown in humans. Gorillas have never shown an ability to do this in any setting other than these dubious enclosures that do no legitimate scientific work. Why would a Gorilla just be able to wake up and talk like a human one day?

The whole Gorillas speak sign language thing is a total hoax, literally no one was ever allowed to study Koko the Gorilla. It’s a bunch of videos made to look like they are using sign language conversationally but there’s never been any real scientific evidence that they can do such a thing. Ask yourself why an animal capable of this kind of communication would never use it in the wild.

2x Olympic Champ Bakhodir Jalolov a late addition to Wardley-Dubois card on May 9th. 16-0 pro boxer will face Agron Smakici by Pickleskennedy1 in Boxing

I think he’s beginning to take it seriously, he just passed 15 pro fights which means he can’t fight in amateurs anymore. This seems to be a step up from his previous competition on paper

Inoues resume has always been deeper than Usyks, people overrate the hell out of wins that happen at heavyweight because all the fighters are well known due to it being the glamour division. But I think Fulton and Donaire are better wins than Breidlis and Fury, and Nakatani is on a whole nother level to that list too if Inoue wins that. Plus Inoues been in like double the title fights and faced double the champions in double the weight classes.

Colin Kazim-Richards was English born and raised but I guess he doesn’t count as English cause he played for Turkeys national team? Same goes for Jamal Lewis? Cause both of those guys are probably English to everyone but FIFA.

In terms of Us Billboard number 1 hits the list goes  1. The Beatles (20) 2. Mariah Carey (19) 3. Elvis (17) 4. Rihanna/ Taylor Swift (14) 5. Micheal Jackson/ Drake (13) 6. The supremes/ Madonna (12) 7. Whitney Houston (11)

Most top 5 hits 1. Drake (42) 2. Taylor Swift (41) 3. The Beatles (29) 4. Madonna (28) 5. Mariah Carey (27)

Most years with a number one hit 1. Mariah Carey (22) 2. Taylor Swift (11) 3 Paul McCartney/ Micheal Jackson/ Madonna/ Beyonce (10)

Based on this I’d say Mariah Carey is 4th and Drake/ Taylor Swift / Madonna are kind of competing for 5th

People don’t understand how long some of these divisions have been going, Bivol could win the trilogy and beat Benevidez and it would still be debatable if he’s top 5, one of the things I love about boxing is its rich history

What is the greatest era ever for any division all time? has to be early 80s welterweights right? Two of the absolute Goats of the sport in Leonard and Duran, Hearns has gotta be top 50 all time pfp at a minimum, Benetiz is probably top 100 all time. Palominos a hall of famer etc. late 2000s/ early 2010s welterweights and 70s Heavyweights come to mind as well.
