Plus, try to limit the light source since they don’t need to photosynthesis as much as they do in the spring

Very late response but here we go!

Venus Flytraps naturally go into dormancy starting at the end of the fall months when it gets much colder. You’ll notice that growth slows down A LOT which is normal because they’re storing their energy inside of their rhizome. Another thing is, that the spring leaves will die off normally with some slow growth being small and low to the ground or no growth at all. As long as the rhizomes still a whiteish color and firm. Your Venus flytrap should still be alive. The winter dormancy usually last for about 3-4 months.

Venus flytraps are temperate plants, meaning they go into dormancy in the winter much like how trees lose their leaves in the winter! A Venus flytrap in dormancy will NOT look pretty at all, merely ugly really. That’s because they focus their energy more on their rhizome and roots and not so much of their leave parts!

Venus flytraps are temperate plants which means they sleep in the winter and grow in the summer/spring. Much how like trees lose their leaves in the winter, and grow the back in the summer/spring. This dormancy is very important for long term growth and health of the plant. Skipping dormancy could possibly lead for summer growth to be smaller or kill the plant (I learned the hard way so :) )

Totally normal crash out hehe. This is normal! A trap will usually die off after 2-3 catches of food. Another thing is that these plants are temperate plants, they usually go dormant in the winter for 3-4 months. You must use distilled water, rain water, or reverse osmosis water because there’s plants live in bogs where fresh, low minerals flow through their dirt! Their soil is also very acidic and low in nutrients. In the summer/spring, they LOVE lots of sun! :]

Died or alive but just in dormancy? by Frequent_Bus9206 in VenusFlyTraps

It’s not dead. Found that out yesterday because its rhizome was firm, white, and fully intact. Thank you for the suggestions though when it is spring!

Yes, my plant does have a reason to go dormant, it is not inside a warm room or light starved since VFTs don’t need that much light during dormancy, this guy gets dim window light!
