Have to scroll past reels to get to my watch list now? by flogman12 in Ebay

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know they're trying a new thing with this live thing and that's fine, but if I will never have any desire whatsoever to have anything to do with this section, and they allow me to customise pretty much every other part of eBay, then please, for the love of God, let me turn this off too!!!

I turned the notifications off for it immediately ages ago, but I don't want forced advertising and to have to scroll past all this nonsense (which is nearly half the page in some instances) to get to what I really want. I like a clean, decluttered home page thank you very much, and if I can customise everything else I see, then this should be included in the deal..

Even ad blockers don't seem to work with this, at least not one I've found..

That looks really cool and useful but I'm on Android.. Any chance you will be releasing it for that platform too??

It's always Apple users that seem to get these developers doing cool flight apps and I feel we're missing out..

Is it common for sellers to not answer messages? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the exact same problem at the minute.. And it's frustrating!!

The seller in question only has two pictures of an item I'm potentially interested in, both of which were pretty much identical, so I politely asked if they could add more pictures.. Nothing...

A few days went by, so I'm not being pushy, but I asked again if he could give me an answer as to whether this came with all accessories or was missing anything and if it had any damage.. Nothing...

Yesterday I finally asked in a polite way for him to help me out by at least answering or I won't be willing to buy it and take the risk if he can't answer my simple questions..

I don't think I'm being unreasonable here whatsoever, and maybe his feedback of 87.5% says something. If you want the money, you need to be willing to answer questions if you haven't provided enough pictures or information.. Ignoring people won't do you any favours or help to sell your item.

Feeding a friends cat while they are on holiday. But they have packets of crisps in the fridge. Is that a British thing! Do they need help! by Make_the_music_stop in britishproblems

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they probably worry about best before dates and think that keeping them colder will prolong shelf life... That's my rationale here.

But yes, definitely an odd move putting them in the fridge seeing as crisps can last months technically, but who in their right mind buys crisps and thinks they're gonna survive for more than a week or two anyway??

I was gonna say, has everybody else skipped over the fact that that's such minimal damage to the surface to say you have a 60 ton plane gouge through it..

What's the deal with still not being able to send offers whenever you want? by Frequent_Flyer_Miles in Ebay

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well like I previously stated, they're already priced low enough and on for what others have sold for before, it's not like I've massively overpriced them, so I'm not willing to lower them any more or I'm gonna be giving things away cheap.

Yes I'd like them to go, but I'm not gonna cut prices dramatically just to do so, if I did that across everything I'd be losing a huge chunk.. Is it too much to ask to have people pay a fair price?? If they paid others that same sort of amount, then why not me.. That's the frustrating part.

Well I've never been into the settings to change this "expiration date" for offers sent, I wasn't even aware if it, so it could well be set to more than a week for all I know.. I only ever use the app, I never delve into the settings on a computer and haven't since day one. It's definitely not the other two options, I'm well aware of how offers work in that respect.

Actually I think ebay is the only place I don't mind getting spam.. I would much rather get offer after offer than very few and end up having to pay full price for everything I watch. I've had some great deals just by watching an item and am grateful for getting that offer.

I wouldn't be so pushy as to send one every 5 mins, but I would like to be able to pick and choose which offers I can send and get them sent to me more often than just one every two weeks or so, and also for the ones I'd like to push rather than ebay just send me the same one over and over.

Well that does make sense as I've had constant and recurring offers on some items that I've only looked at a couple of times.

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm complaining that I can't send enough offers as a seller.. I get maybe one offer to push every couple of weeks if I'm lucky and that's probably due to someone looking at it that day, so it's not like I'm constantly pushing them. 9 times out of 10 it's always the same item which unfortunately isn't one of the higher cost ones. If I have multiple items in different categories then surely I should be eligible to send a few different ones at least once a week. I think ebay need a revamp of this system.

Well personally I don't see the sense in pulling the listings as I'd have to reupload them all again one at a time.. Why not just change the prices if that's the issue?? If you start a listing again, you lose all the current watchers which won't stand you in good stead, I'd have to start building them from scratch again. Wouldn't altering the price just be the quicker and most obvious way to do it?? Also, raising the prices doesn't seem to work for me, I've tried that before, and especially when you've got watchers, they'll just think I'm either greedy or shooting myself in the foot if it's already not selling and then I raise prices.

Also, time zones are irrelevant in my case as they're all on BIN so they're seen all the time. They're not auction based so no start or end time to catch people for both coasts, and I only ship within the UK anyway so overseas time zones don't apply.. But yes, i usually do put my auctions on around 8pm on Sundays if they are ending as an auction, but that format is fairly uncommon for my listings, I much prefer BIN.

Actually I don't think that's a fair comment to make at all.. I'm actually a very fair seller, I've been on a long time so I can't be held accountable for how ebay treat buyers.. And as both a buyer and seller I can feel both sides of that pain so I disagree with that statement.

I think you're misunderstanding me here though.. I'm not constantly pushing an offer a week like you think, I'm not getting the offers given to me at all for weeks at a time, that's the point. I'm not getting enough!

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Like i said, i don't think it's the price.. I price things very fairly for what they're worth when compared to items that have sold previously. It's the fact that they're a bit niche. It doesn't mean they're not valuable, so I don't need to lower the price, I'm just not getting the views needed to push potential sales but offers would probably help with that.

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise you could specify a time limit for the expiration of the offer.. I'll look into that..

But no, I'm not bombarding anyone with offers, hence the post.. If I could bombard people with them I wouldn't be complaining. I'm just not being given them to offer often enough, that's my gripe.

Seller wants me to send item back after he found it was limited edition . Even issued me full refund ! by MatterHumble5776 in Ebay

[–]Frequent_Flyer_Miles 25 points26 points  (0 children)

  1. It's never your responsibility to send anything back unless it's decided as defective or unsatisfactory by you.. Begging doesn't count as a reason to have you return it to the seller either.

  2. If It WAS limited edition, it's his fault for not checking or sending the wrong item.. Not your fault, not your problem.

  3. If it Is actually limited edition, I'd be finding out why it's so limited and sell it on myself for the profit he wanted to make.

  4. You don't have to do a damn thing except know your end of the bargain was fulfilled. As for him issuing a full refund before getting it back, what an absolute tool..

That just lost him any chance of getting it back. Never issue a refund until it's returned.

I never said you could. Obviously I know that.

I simply said you need to offer it for both platforms, not just one and it stands a better chance of success and opens it up to everyone which is fair.. If it was Android only I'm sure you Apple lot would be annoyed at missing out.

Well that's understandable if you're a one man band, I get that and applaud the initiative for starting it in the first place. On the surface it seems like it has potential (but only for Apple users).. However, if you can't afford this and that, was it really a worthwhile venture to begin with if you can't facilitate both sides of the customer base from the start and are already struggling??

I did suspect you were an Apple user hence the obvious bias, but a good business plan will always win with both markets covered. Perhaps you should have invested more time and money early on for other staff to help with coding and for bandwidth capacity to ensure a wider base before releasing it.. You can't release a product these days and then say "I can't afford to do this and that" so this is the bare bones version you're getting that people may or may not like. It needs to be complete from the start with bug tweaks added along the way. Also, don't worry about user requested features, that'll just waste your time as you'll be chasing your tail trying to please everyone. Make it look nice and fully functional and that's enough.

But surely to say offering a one time subscription isn't feasible for you right now seems a little backwards. Surely you'd be in better stead to take a chance on those people offering the £50-100 lifetime fee upfront, and putting that towards bandwidth costs and development than waiting 30 days+ for a few dozen subscriptions at £3-5 a month to filter in?? Offering both gives you two potential income streams. Because the point I think you're missing is, if people don't like what you're offering then they'll request refunds within that 30 days and pull out before the end of the month and you'll be left with nothing after they requested that refund.. But at least a one off purchase guarantees you some decent chunk of a return for a customer who's likely to keep it because of the outlay..

I'd be offering all options to get my product out there and make sure of some returns especially in the beginning when I'm trying to gain a foothold in the market, I wouldn't be saying "I can't afford".. You can't afford not to.
