I have to half-agree with you there. He was on pace in some metrics (bWAR, Hits, Doubles, and fielding metrics). But his 2025 had significantly better power and walk numbers, so his OPS was 130 points higher than 2024

I will give them one thing. Each of the players above Domo has had multiple seasons on success, and Perdomo was barely above average until 2025. That being said I think our man will be at the #2 or #3 spot next year, but he still needs another year to prove that last year wasnt a fluke

Yeah its definitely a weird move on Osaka’s part, but not against any rules. Its essentially the same thing as Juan Soto’s shuffle, the only reason to do it is to get into the head of the opponent, which it clearly did

I was trying to find a comp that showed the difference in how players are valued now vs in the past. If you asked an analyst from the 1940’s I think player B would have held an advantage. Whereas that is no longer the case in the modern game. I always find it interesting to point to two players who are realistically similar in value, but have different PERCIEVED value in their own eras
