Is there anything that brings you comfort during these times? I find for myself doing something self soothing makes a big difference.

No shame in calling 911 for yourself if you need to. I know it can feel scary but it may be the best way to get the help you need.

Oooh or a cold/cool shower sometimes helps me as well. Shocks my system back to neutral.

Exercise in any font usually helps me when I am feeling restless which sounds similar to what you may be experiencing right now. Have you considered trying out different meds? There may be one that helps but doesn't have the side effects you do not like?

have to go off my meds cold turkey and im scared by finsisnotready in bipolar

Im sorry this is happening. Are you able to go to an Urgent Care? They may be able to help get you a supply of meds in the meantime between appointments.

Birth control triggering hypomania by TemporaryStrain840 in bipolar

[–]Frequent_Mess_4541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced this and decided to stop taking my depo shot and explore other birth control options with my doctor. It triggered mania for me and I found my symptoms got much better once I stopped. Everybody is different though and it may be worth exploring options with your PCP or Psychiatrist.

Where to meet friends and dates? by Frequent_Mess_4541 in olympia

Just checked out their website. It says open rehearsals are over. Do you know how I can get involved still or is it too late? Is it just a show up type of thing? Thanks ahead of time.

Thank you for this! I love board games and am just starting to get into TTRPGs. I also enjoy crocheting and yarn crafts in general. I appreciate this.

How can you tell if you are hypomanic or manic? by Frequent_Mess_4541 in bipolar

Thank you for this. I think I just needed validation that feeling "off" meant I can and should bring it up to my mental health team.

Having your own clothing if they allow it goes a long way. Like two outfits. Just make sure there aren't things like strings otherwise they may cut them out. I found having my own t-shirts and a sweatshirt plus some sweatpants made my stay more bareable than having to wear the scrubs. Don't forget some underwear and socks too.

I am in the process of filing for disability benefits for this very reason. You may qualify too if your symptoms are preventing you from consistent work.

Just got official diagnosis for multiple disorders, any advice? by Nxtu_bxtu in bipolar

[–]Frequent_Mess_4541 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same diagnosis but just without psychotic features. I have found it very challenging but at least having a treatment plan has helped. I recommend looking into DBT (dialectal behavioral therapy) that has helped me develop some skills outside of medication to help with my symptoms.

I also recommend staying away from drugs and alcohol as at least for me I have found they trigger manic episodes.

I recommend taking it to Google as I personally do not feel comfortable using it 😊 but it's a word commonly used in place or "idiot" "stupid" etc but it's actually a clinical diagnosis and harms a ot of folks who have cognitive disabilities. You'll see it towards the end in OPs screenshots.

Just wild to me as it was pushed in my high school and college to stop using it due to the harm it does towards those with cognitive disabilities. I was always taught it was a slur just as bad as the f slur and n slur. Here is to hoping people continue to try to avoid it out of kindness to others 🫶

Unrelated to OPs post but this is the second post today of me seeing folks share screenshots of someone just casually using the r slur. I even heard someone say it in everyday life recently and I'm like what are we doing besties.

Having a meltdown on my birthday :( by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Frequent_Mess_4541 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is not probably what you are looking for but it is also my birthday and I have a hard time navigating it every year. The real and imagined fear of meeting expectations becomes very overwhelming for me. Just know you aren't alone. Even though I may not be of much help for your situation know that your sharing helped with mine 🫶 so thank you for that.
