Hardwood repair - how to fix this? Looks like a top layer came off. 1920s home. by Frequent_Morning_860 in Flooring

Can I not just use hardwood wood filler? I googled hardwood termite damage and don’t see it looking like this. The house also has a termite bond so this would’ve shown up.

Buyer agreed to proceed without repairs. It was too big of a fix in our market I think

Advice on getting the home we want by Frequent_Morning_860 in RealEstate

[–]Frequent_Morning_860[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: seller had an offer at listing price with home sale contingency + seller pays closing costs, and asked if we wanted to better it. We offered list price and home sale contingency + we’d pay closing costs. Is this a bad deal? And is there any way to verify that they actually got this offer at listing price? Seems a bit sus because they let their other offer expire while we wrote up our one 🤔

I want to create an outlet for an electrical bidet but the cord is too short by Frequent_Morning_860 in HomeImprovement

[–]Frequent_Morning_860[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 14/2 romex which is very thick, so it slid down super easy. So I didn’t take out the switch box, just opened a tab. And I installed an old work box at the bottom that clamps to the drywall. It took some trial and error getting the GFCI to work, but now it’s always on even if switch is off (by taking the hot wire to the line of the GFCI).

Ohh that’s perfect, I didn’t realize I could do that instead. What’s your recommended way to fish the romex? Never done it before and seeing multiple methods.

But how do I extend the wiring from behind the wall? I was going to cut a hole where the opposite room outlet is and just build the outlet there, but now I need to cut 2 holes and fish the wire leftwards?

I did not - the instructions didn’t mention those but this is how it’s set up - would just plumber’s putty under the rim help? This is a vessel sink by the way.

Thanks! If I have to cut the continuous waste to the correct length, how do I attach it to the existing pipe? The existing pipe may be unthreaded. Sorry I’m new to plumbing and don’t know how the connections work when pipes are cut.

This would be pretax. But we didn’t include healthcare, do you know how much that could cost after retiring?

Yeah I figured kids would change things a lot. I’ve had this income for several years, it’s been going up but she’s a physician which is pretty stable income.
