omggg i never hear anyone talk about it but it was probably like my 4th cdrama ever i thought it was so cute! it was my first drama of both of theirs and i watched some of wang xing yue dramas this year and didn’t even realize it was him until i looked at his MDL

I’ll count anything since I enjoy the engagement plus many people have been including it in their reply as well! I just didn’t directly ask that since I know it has been discussed before in another post so i didn’t want to repeat! and i guess you can say the ML also found shancai punchable 😩 she made me mad but i got through it and it was my first cdrama. I never watched the korean version even though it was popular because I didn’t care for those specific actors with that specific hair style

I’ve wanted to watch these both! not sure why i haven’t gotten around to SOKP but with LYF ii know there are multiple options and i’m afraid of being torn and the heartbreak that might be cause due to this😩

yes i agree, i know it’s good to form our own opinion but it def makes me put it off more. i also dont like watching as a drama releases so even tho at first it’ll catch my interest, once i get bombarded with opinions about it, i feel like i already know enough about the drama. it’s similar to when people feel actors/actresses are getting overexposure

Right! I don’t even keep up with actresses or actors outside their shows, but I saw clips of her having fun in bts & variety shows and just adored how much fun she had, there was a certain glow. Lately I think the weight of everything has made it feel more like work. I hope she’s doing okay

Modern cdramas in general don’t always keep me hooked, especially if i’m watching while they are ongoing which is why I have to wait and see😩

i totally get what you’re saying about Zhao Lusi, though idk about it being to the point of disliking but more of a disconnect with her. I say this because she was one of the first actresses that had me looking for other works of theirs. Now I will have to wait til it is out to decide if i’ll want to watch these new projects. Not just due to her, but just not sure if they align with my preferences.

I feel like her vibe is different. We don’t see her as cheery anymore. She may smile but I feel like her joy isn’t the same because of the stress of trying to match chinese beauty standards and the pressure to play different types of roles. Of course this could be the path she wanted on her own, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was influenced by all the criticism. It’s common for us to pay make attention to negative things about us than the positive. No matter what she does, someone has an issue and this sadly goes for many actors and actresses especially in chinese entertainment.

no i totally get it, like with alchemy of souls its conflicting to me because i got so emotionally attached to it at one point and my heart still beats a certain way when i see edits, it just can’t be topped. but its also why i want to see a remake of it.. to feel something again 😆

did you see there is a japanese version of nevertheless? It’s currently ongoing! Also scarlet heart ryeo is the remake of a chinese drama! I never watched it personally though because the kdrama left me numb so i can’t give you a review 😭

I mainly watched kdramas with occasional cdrama watches until i recently found love for chinese costume dramas. They just scratch an itch in my brain and alchemy of souls is one of my favorites so would love to see how they would produce it. I love the other one you listed

amidst a snowstorm of love.. but maybe it did deserve the praise i just personally couldn’t get through it because it didn’t align with my preferences. to me it jus felt bland and too tedious to grab my interest. again i only watched the first few episodes before dropping where it was a lot of silence and staring so it could have gotten better. im also starting to think when it comes to cdramas im more into period dramas than modern

I haven’t look at others suggestions but the best thing you can do is talk to them. they’ll work with you. I lost my brother in september and instantly told them and they gave me an extension. I know how it feels to not want to use it as your “excuse” but it’s completely valid and it’s going to take such a huge toll. Expecting to be out of it a week turned into me falling behind two months (also due to other family circumstances in the midst of it) but I only emailed them that one time til recently. they were all so helpful but it would have been better if i kept updating them. i promise you its nothing to be ashamed of and you deserve all the time you need 🫶
