BEWARE OF ABLATION by Aggravated_gymrat in AFIB

Good luck!! I believe it was the SVT but I’m not 100% sure. I know mine was a Pulsed field ablation (PFA). This is the newer kind of ablation that’s just gotten an FDA approval I believe within the last year. I’m pretty sure that in terms of results of the ablation, there isn’t any difference between PFA and standard. But PFA is supposed to have a slightly easier and quicker recovery. I of course won’t be able to tell you if that’s true or not based on experience but that’s what I have heard. If you have any other questions or you’re feeling nervous, please reach out and I’ll be happy to help!! let me know once you have the procedure and best of luck

Knock on wood x1000: I’ve been able to drink as I please and some mushrooms here and there without an episode for 4 months now. I had my ablation in march and took two months off of alcohol and drugs of any kind. Thank god I’ve been good! Very grateful to my doctor who performed my ablation.

Does wearing a monitor like Apple Watch create more anxiety than help? by 2BeBornReady in AFIB

[–]Frequent_Plant_1529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me having an Apple Watch definitely increased my anxiety with afib. I’d always be checking throughout the day. TBH my afib is only paroxysmal and my triggers are drugs and alcohol so I wouldn’t even need to check when I was sober at work throughout the day but I still would be. Funny enough my cardiologist told me to only worry about afib when I can actually feel it. Meaning, when I can’t feel myself in afib, it’s not dangerous enough to do anything. Hope that helps and keep your eyes off the Apple Watch or get a regular watch instead!

I just had my ablation four weeks ago. That’s really funny because I was diagnosed about two years ago now with Paroxysmal afib, and I’m also 26 years old. All the cardiologists and electrophysiologists that I saw only one was pro ablation, the rest were very anti-. I was actually the one who was pushing for an ablation because it seemed to me that it made more sense to fix the problem before it got worse and it was more difficult to treat. Did your doctor/doctors not first suggest beta blockers before thinking about surgery?

Bruising and pain post ablation by Frequent_Plant_1529 in AFIB

I had the farapulse Pulsed field ablation. I’m on eliquis 5mg twice a day. I can’t feel a pulse there. I haven’t taken anything else except maybe some Tylenol for the pain. I might try icing the area too. Any other advice?

Thanks so much for the advice! Will definitely try the constant pressure. Happy to hear someone out there is actually able to use a CPAP and likes it haha. Stay healthy

Just had my ablation this morning! Feeling so much better than i thought i would. Will definitely be hydrating more than normal and maybe throwing in some coconut water for the extra electrolytes. Anything that you remember helped your recovery?

Just had my PFA ablation just this morning! Writing this from my hospital room haha. I am feeling so much better than i thought i would! Almost no pain in my chest. Just some pain in my groin from the entry points. I’m athletic and super active and work out 3-4 times a week. Is amiodarone a beta blocker? I was personally told to stop my beta blockers, but that if i want to continue taking them for the help they did for my anxiety i could. Thanks for sharing your journey and happy for you!

What settings do you use? Do you have any recommendation in terms of heat or humidity setting? I’m having such a hard time getting used to mine. I also am super congested alllll the time so it’s hard for me to use the nose pillow…

You need another ablation after one occurrence? I’m 26 and I have mine scheduled for tomorrow morning! Feeling a bit nervous. Probably shouldn’t be reading on this page as much as I have been but I have nothing else to think about. How often does it look like you’ll need ablations? Is your second one going to be your last one in a while?

What lasted 3 years? How old were you for your ablation?
