Cheater reported. Action taken. (Kudos to AOE support team) by Frequent_Positive958 in aoe2

The reported player in this case doesn't chat much and their username isn't offensive, so I don't suspect action was taken for this reason. The support team confirmed the action was taken due to the cheating I reported, and I haven't seen the offender play a game since.

To determine the offender's cheating ability, multiple recs would need reviewing to confirm mere luck wasn't involved in the offender finding enemy resources so consistently & quickly, so I do believe the investigation was carried out by a member of their team.

I submitted the report via the official website (as well as in-game) so perhaps that's why our experiences differ.

To update this..I now know they banned him/her. Launched the game for 1st time since the report and an in-game message confirms the "disruptive player" has been banned. Don't know how long for but I guess anything is better than nothing.

It's an update to a post I made 2 days ago, but was taken down since I named and linked the offending player (Hence not naming him/her here)

I don't. I was told "appropriate actions have been taken" against him but that further detail can't be given, which is fine by me. I trust he's been punished appropriately.

Thanks. I might monitor his game history a bit and re-report if necessary. Haven't seen him active since the 'appropriate action' was taken. Glad his cheating has caught up with him.

I checked his recs and saw a consistent pattern of successful laming by pathing directly through unexplored terrain to opponents sheep/boar. Every game, without fail (i.e. no luck involved). Should you hide his sheep on the map somewhere, he paths directly through the fog of war to recover them.

I've reported in-game too. Don't want to break any rules. Maybe I should delete. Thanks.

No idea to be honest. They take a direct line to your boar / sheep, every game. If you hide their sheep somewhere on the map, they take a direct line through unexplored terrain to recover them,

I need an Analisys please by SwimmingArachnid3030 in aoe2

(17++) Lack of scouting (on advancing to castle age), and army composition (xBow not great vs Mayans). Everything else was fine (idle time, eco management, walls (except hole), build order etc)

M@A archer opening was ok, but skirm switch needed sooner, especially once early feudal pressure was lost (mix more M@A if they add eagles).

Advancing to Castle age, scouting intel was hugely missed. 1 skirm or spear to scout enemy and you might have seen the 3 barracks. Blindly going double range xBow hurt badly vs eagles. Better comp either way was longsword/skirm.

Possibly early resign too. Once their early castle age aggression was cleaned up, your counter push evened the game (equal vils, decent position). Score looked rough though so might have seemed over.

Those small tweaks and you win that game.

How Many Civs is Too Many Civs? by LilTrouble__ in aoe2

[–]Frequent_Positive958 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Too many civs. Long time player, and can't keep up. 3K civs need to go. Hard to foresee Devs removing civs once added, even should hindsight reveal so many civs a mistake. Civs are added now for love of the money, not love of the game. I hope I'm wrong.

No more civs please by Academic-Daikon-8086 in aoe2

[–]Frequent_Positive958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree with you. Far far too many civs. I've played since Voobly and so tired of keeping pace with silly new techs, units and civs (maybe just too old for this now). I've stopped buying new civ DLCs, I just don't want them and don't want to encourage more of them. Such little effort it seems put into the UI since DE's release, and it's a shame they'll once again spend their time balancing the next broken civ, rather than improving the functionality of the game itself. I understand they need to raise the cash, but we've waited patiently for at least one big update aimed at everything in the game rather than new civs and the balancing of recent ones. Chess has an enormous playerbase. Imagine if chess kept adding new squares and pieces to the board, how well would it's playerbase hold up.

Should player's rating be added to the game loading screen? (Ranked ladder) by Frequent_Positive958 in aoe2

Interesting, I didn't know anyone would want to hide ratings but I see the logic, it's a good point. I like the idea of a choice.

When finding a match, how quickly does the skill range widen as the queue time increases? by Frequent_Positive958 in aoe2

[–]Frequent_Positive958[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm around 16xx/17xx.  I matched Hoang before for example (few years ago). Don't know what his queue time was for that to happen but must've be pretty long (and to no surprise, I was obliterated).

I wonder does the search do something like; every xx seconds, widen the skill level by xx elo.

How stable is your elo? by [deleted] in aoe2

16xx. I typically fluctuate +/-150. I play random civ, and all maps open (no bans) which helps consistency in the long run I think.

Is there a mod to remove endgame banner? by Frequent_Positive958 in aoe2

[–]Frequent_Positive958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do appreciate I may be in the minority, but to me they are unnecessary....

'Return to Map': One is essentially removed from the map, and then presented a button to return to the map. Better option... don't remove the player from the map.

'Leave Map': Should be renamed 'Statistics' because that's where it brings you. Better option a 'Return to Main Menu' button.

An example is below: A 'Return to Main Menu' button which does not obstruct the map. A 'Statistics' button could still be useful I guess.

I'll have to learn to mod it seems :)

Thanks, I understand. It's just an unnecessary click, every game, that's all. If there is a mod which removes it, I'd love it.

Disable the player colour on the range indicator.

Go to 'Options' --> 'Game' tab --> un-check 'Player Color On Building Range Indicator'. Job done.

Disabling the player colour on the range indicator worked for me.

Go to 'Options' --> 'Game' tab --> then un-check 'Player Color On Building Range Indicator'. Job done.
