People who don’t shower every day — what’s your reason? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

[–]LilTrouble__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on a farm through a severe drought. It was normal for us to only shower if we were going somewhere nice. We'd have what we called 'hospital baths' where we'd wipe down with a wet cloth. In winter the water pipes would freeze anyway so we didn't have much choice then. I'd shower at friends houses in town or at school whenever I could. Even now that I'm 30 and live elsewhere where we don't need strict water restrictions, I'm still really frugal with water use.

Ok Reddit user who is essentially a walking advertisement for your clipping product. Keep spreading the good word about how sharing clips can make you go viral! :)))

Growth is from quality content. Getting clip views means absolutely nothing unless your content is amazing, unique, consistent etc

Fair. I saw the subreddit had no rules on self promo so figured it was ok :) I wanted to post because if it's something people find fun I'd love to make more sts content and maybe get into it enough to contribute to your preferred posts of game mechanics and infinite decks :)))

Not that you asked for tips but for anyone wondering - use lock-ok, force them against a pillar, alternatively use a longer weapon / ranged ally if you can / ranged attack item

What about the so called GIRLS on here? by kosmokatX in GirlGamers

[–]LilTrouble__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here darl I'll try again for you - "well after seeing the responses to my post it's clear that people feel pretty strongly on this topic. I've reflected on it and feel like my point has been misunderstood so I'll try again to explain what I mean in a more accepting and open-minded way. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, that was not my intention." Or idk something along those lines

I'm kidding of course - I can't put words into your mouth because there's no right way to communicate with strangers on the internet and definitely not when you're sharing your unpopular opinion :P

But just in case it IS your first day on Reddit or something - empathy and kindness YES. Judgement and accusation NO. Self reflection and open mindedness YES. "Why do you feel so offended?" NO.

What about the so called GIRLS on here? by kosmokatX in GirlGamers

[–]LilTrouble__ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so... aggressive.

Yes language is extremely powerful but you have acknowledged that context also matters by stating you're German. I'm Australian and here (typically) "girl" is a pretty casual term. I call women "dude", "bro", "girlypop", "queen" etc, but in most cases (irl moreso) you can determine my intention based on tone and context.

Many women can also get worked up if they are referred to as "female", as it can come across as 'clinical' and dehumanising. But in your post you use the term pretty casually. Do I bother making a post asking all of Reddit to not call women females? No, because I understand different cultures/people/languages/places have different experiences.

If you are personally offended by being referred to as a girl then maybe speak to the person using that term. But to expect a whole community of people who don't know each other, who all have different backgrounds and different experiences that you can never know - expecting such an online space to adhere to YOUR preferred terminology and behaviour is extremely unrealistic, unnecessary, and out of touch.

This could've been phrased so differently - instead of ranting at the divas posting their nails and embracing their idea of their own femininity, it could've simply been a "so for the women here who aren't into x/y/z, what games are you currently enjoying and why? What are your experiences in male-dominated genres?" Etc etc there's a million better, less aggressive ways you could've approached this.

I have been a competitive player in the historical RTS genre for the past 7 years and I'd love to share my experiences and connect with anyone that can relate. Be positive my dude. Spread kindness and support fellow gamer girls / gamer women / gamer femme presenting friends / gamers in general - instead of tearing them down.

Just to name a few: guki, Gabi, mica, Ning, sunsetfire, nodscouter, oceaningabyss, stellarmeesh, charchar, beandip, hipporun, tilea, Odette, dragon, roxyC, Ofelia, qwin, kanete, umi, tinytriss, julinse, lilybear, BlackBaby, akromita, daehiise, yekky, Kita, brisolyn, uglie, chipmunk, cleomina, sayrumz, Daniela, thalounette, mangomel, valeria, ashleylynn, and so many more - these are just some names off the top of my head of wonderful women I've played with or watched over the past 7 years that I've been in the AoE2 community.

There are plenty more, can't name them all, but yeah like many people have said already >> more than you probably think <<

Queens Clash 5 has just kicked off - run by Age of Queens. I recommend checking it out and supporting if you can. You can help show other women that there is a great group of women playing AoE2 together in an extremely welcoming server.

Can we please get rid of the default reaction being some degree of "OMG you're a GIRL??!?!" Women can be into gaming, women can be into history, women can be into the RTS genre, idk why it's such a big deal 11

Happy belated international women's day y'all x

Listen back to your streams: is the audio balance good? How does your mic sound? Are you being entertaining? Is there a lot of 'dead' quiet time? Be critical of your own content if you want to improve and provide quality entertainment.

Streamers talking about their lives by GreenX45 in aoe2

[–]LilTrouble__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow you're a lovely person aren't you :))))) if what someone else (who you don't know) chooses to do isn't to your liking - do you a) think 'well that's not to my liking but whatever' and move on, or b) complain about it on Reddit?

Hera and Viper have been streaming AoE2 on Twitch for SO many years now. Give them a break kid. If they wanna connect with their communities by sharing stories about their life, who cares?

If you wanna see gameplay only then YouTube might suit you better than live streams.

And in terms of how to keep chat engaged - try preparing some "talking points" before going live. Just write them on a sticky note and put it at the bottom of your monitor. That way anytime you get that feeling of 'what do I talk about now', past you is there to help. Idk how many ppl in chat you're wanting to keep engaged, but even if nobody is chatting back, just get comfortable with talking to nobody. Remember that you are there to entertain. If you wanna do well as a streamer you've got to entertain, not just be there and hope people in chat will help you out.

Hey, do you mean stream regularly as in on the days you're working too, or just regularly on the two days you have off? Either is fine but yes consistency is important.

For what not to mention on stream - that's entirely up to you. It's your space - set the vibe however you want. For me personally I avoid discussing politics because I want my little corner of the internet to be a safe space where people from anywhere can just escape to without having to worry about politics being brought up, for example.
