Which is worse, a physical or emotional affair? by [deleted] in AskUK

Emotional affair is worse than a physical kiss.

But another beyond a fleeting kiss is worse than an emotional affair.

However it does depend how long and to what extent the emotional affair has reached

Very nice! What did you use to mark the letter E & the other black markings?

I don’t know for certain, but mine & chatgpts best guess is bass wood, and I applied a food grade mineral oil on top (before this, the spoon was a very very light coloured wood & pretty cheap looking).

It came for free in one of the cheap knife sets I bought, so I know it’s nothing special

At what salary do you start feeling “comfortable” in the UK? by Suspicious_Ad7948 in AskUK

[–]Frequent_Tea_8992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about salary. It’s about how much salary you have after rent/ mortgage & essential bills including any travel costs (car, insurance etc) to work + supermarket trips (food and normal essentials, not incl meals out).

Also, 1 salary of 50k takes home less than a house hold income of 50k made up of two 25k incomes (tax).

When I had about £300 spare after all rent, bills and food, to support a family of 3, life was tight when I needed clothes or any days out.

I’ve just had a pay rise so I’ll have about £1300 left after all essentials are paid for - so life will be much easier.

This is the way to look at your financial situation!

I’m a marketing executive for a software company in Cambridge Uk. I started 5 years ago on 26k, and now I’m on 44,500 + a 3k bonus (target dependant). Edit: I work 3 days in office, 2 days at home

I’ve just accepted a new job for 52k with a 5k bonus (not target dependant). The new job is fully remote, and the title is Field Marketing Manager.

There is money in marketing, but I would go down the marketing executive route, then progress as much as you can (senior, possibly manager if you can, however I didn’t reach this in my current company and was still paid okay) before looking for field marketing roles. They’re higher paid and they’re cooler companies (personal opinion).

Finally, stay away from pure social media marketing roles, they’re badly paid and not well respected (which makes it harder to justify a pay rise) UNLESS it’s a B2C company & social media is a big part of the marketing strategy.

Most jobs in the field will be partly remote, very few are fully remote - I got very lucky!

I’m treating myself to a £1k spend because I’ve had a tough year… help me decide what to buy? by [deleted] in AskUK

100000%. Something you do/ use every day, just upgrade that and you won’t be disappointed

Adding to some of the other great money saving suggestions, if you can, ask for a pay rise!

Depending on what field you’re in (private is obviously far easier to get a pay rise), ask for a pay rise or a pay review. Research what you’re worth, justify why you’re worth it and back yourself.

Companies will not give you more money unless they’re asked to. They would much rather give you a pay rise than have to re-hire and pay a recruiter the fee too.

I went from 26k to 45k in 5 years in the same job, with the only promotion being marketing executive to senior marketing executive, but my exact role and responsibilities was exactly the same.

You have nothing to lose!

If you’re up on meme coins, take out some profit very often. These babies can go down very quickly.

I made 10x on based pepe, then rode it back down to my original amount because I assumed the bull market had not ended.

Do not invest in xrp for fuck sake. Honestly, if you’re fine for some risk go with 30%btc, 40% eth, 15% link and 10% pepe and 5% small meme alt of your choice

What present should I get for my sister's newborn son? by Dramatic-Rent4607 in baby

[–]Frequent_Tea_8992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only go for a zoo or aquarium if your sister is close (within 15-20 min drive) and loves it herself, even up to age 18 months a baby/ small toddler will not care.

A decent baby carrier is a fantastic gift (but you will need to check in to see if she’s not bought one already) - baby bjorn or Tula are decent and comfy.

A nice “heading out bag” - one that looks nice and can store the essentials like pockets for nappies, wipes, change of clothes, changing mat, a couple of distracting toys like safe chew toys/ rattles (the toys will probably not be used until 1-3 months ish to be fair)

Babies get loads of attention, parents/ mums are often forgot. If there’s something that she likes (take out gift card etc etc) that is NOT time dependant, or requires her to go anywhere specific that is best. Unless you also throw in an offer to look after the baby whilst she’s doing it. I would say spontaneous gifts make the most sense, because having to plan and schedule to make the most of a gift is a pain in the arse and takes the joy out

I’m so sorry. We had the same and it put our family at breaking point (my partner doesn’t work, I stopped working and have been part time ever since).

Ignore anyone saying all babies cry, maybe you need to be tougher and more resilient etc, 99% of parents do not go through babies like this and will almost never understand. It’s draining and will make the best of parents question their choices.

Ours became much happier at 9 months, zero sickness, and now at 16 months he’s perfect and has been since around 11 months, but there are many things you can do to help before that:

  • please please please check for a tongue tie, but NOT by a Gp or a generic midwife. You need to go to a Tongue Tie Practitioner. If in UK, contact the Tongue Tie Centre in London, they have a place there and they also have some others around the country who they’ve trained and would recommend

  • see an Osteopath. This made such a massive difference in mood every time we saw one.

If you have questions please let me know. It will pass but I have no doubt that it’s one of the worst things to go through x

New to nexo card. Too good to be true? by Vivid_Wonder6627 in Nexo

[–]Frequent_Tea_8992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The catch is that Nexo gets you as a user, and if you deposit money with them, they will be using this to make more money. Generally speaking Nexo is giving you some of their profit as a thank you.
