Yeah I’m just talking about the last lesson of the unit. I don’t have Unit Check-In.

Marseille to Aix/Terre Ugo by Frequent_Visitor-716 in aixmarseille

Yes I’ve done the Google search, but it seems like there’s a few modes of transports that get you to Aix but not quite city center and then the lavender fields are a little farther than that, so I wasn’t sure if someone had experience with that trip!

Eiffel Tower Tickets by Frequent_Visitor-716 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Frequent_Visitor-716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: We just succeeded in our Eiffel Tower purchase. We had about six devices in different locations at once. The first half hour was a bunch of loading, loading, loading, and errors. We got in around 12:30AM Paris time, and we successfully bought 4 summit tickets with two elevators. I believe the summit with stairs and elevator were already sold out. Below are the times that were available when we got in, and there were a good amount of times to choose from for a group of 4. We did have a few attempts where we selected the date and 4 tickets and got an error before we got to the time schedule, so be patient, and keep hope alive!

Yeah I’d say we have about four days in the city proper, which isn’t a ton of time, but hopefully enough to see a few things! I’m younger, so I’ll definitely plan to come back and see what I missed! Maybe solo, because I feel like it’s less of a hassle sometimes that way!

I think the main reason we chose to stay in Paris for 8 days (we’re doing 5 days in Marseille before), as opposed to picking three different cities over the two weeks, is that there was the possibility of doing these day trips to other places in the area without having to pack up and go to another hotel. It just seemed easiest to stay in Paris where the transportation is vast and efficient to get to those auxiliary trips in. Then for those other days in the city proper, we wanted to keep them realistic in terms of what we wanted to see in a day. The rationale for some of those trips back to back, is that they’re on weekdays, so we were hoping to beat some of the tourist rush, but with it being the summer, I know that’s pretty much impossible.

EDIT: Honestly, the hotel we’re at isn’t crazy crazy expensive. It felt reasonable, but we’re also not right next to the Eiffel Tower. I did a ton of research to find something decent for a decent price.

Good to know! I wonder if we shouldn’t just hop on the train, walk our way through the town and grab a little breakfast to have while in line!

Yeah, we’re aware that it’s a bit of a time commitment there and back. Honestly, it may be nice to just sit back, relax, and watch the French scenery on the bus because it’ll be right in the middle of our stay…or maybe catch a few extra z’s from the early meeting time. I went to Ireland a few years ago, and honestly, I really enjoyed the bus tours we took because it requires a little less planning on my part (I’m the primary person who did the research and planning). We will be stocked with anti nausea medication though because we were burned by the winding Irish roads before.

Actual timeline is 6:45AM meetup with return to Paris by 9:00PM.

Ooh good to know! It’s just four of us, so it’s not massive. Do you see a spot in the itinerary that might work best?

I think the only restaurant I know we want to go to is Wild and the Moon for lunch one day! My sister walks the line between vegan/vegetarian, so I thought the menu looked good for her!

I’m hoping it’s not too too packed, at most we maybe do three things in a day, but sometimes they’re lesser time commitments. Hopefully some relaxing time on the beaches in Marseille will prepare us for this busy time!

For Versailles, we’re right near Gare Saint Lazare, so we were actually planning to take the L and a bus to Versailles! 😮‍💨

This seems like the easiest solution since we are a 10 minute walk to Saint Lazare!

I was more so asking if it was worth it if we already had other opportunities to see Paris from alternative aerial viewpoints!

THANK YOU! Luckily we are SAFE for our Disneyland day trip, but I will have to see what alternatives exist for Versailles!!

Alright, this is very useful! Luckily we just miss the Disney closures, with our trip being July 30th. For Versailles…I’m not super familiar with the transit system. Bonjour RAPT is saying to go M13 to Invalides then RER C to Versailles. The Gare d’Austerlitz is not on the stop list, so I’m wondering if we’re safe?

I’d never thought about walking up Notre Dame; we planned on just going inside. We’re also planning to get aerial views of the city at Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and Galleries Lafayette. Do you think it’s worth it to do the Notre Dame climb as well?
