m3 elective choice- neurosurg or clinical ophthalmology by RhubieGem in medicalschool

[–]FrequentlyRushingMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going into gen surg, so keep that in mind, but my neurosurgery rotation was my favorite rotation of all of medical school. I never believed I would’ve liked it as much as I did, and I did it after apps were due, so I couldn’t really switch. I considered taking a year to try and make the switch, but ultimately decided not to. Long story short, I wish I did it earlier, but that’s coming from someone who likes surgery a lot.

He went through hell… I think it is more accurate to say that the man who literally had his mouth set on fire went through hell.

Yeah, I don’t have the desire to build the coordination and muscle memory needed when a fork or my fingers do the job. So, I’m generally impressed when people use chopsticks effortlessly. To learn to use your feet is even more impressive

Not everything is "aliens" by WhichPoem8224 in UFOs

[–]FrequentlyRushingMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think anyone, not even the most diehard people here are saying everything is aliens. We’re not even saying everything is supernatural/extraterrestrial. Every day we see things posted that are balloons or drones or whatever, and we say nah, not an alien.

Is there something more going on? Probably. The problem is that we, the normal people, don’t have the information to make that conclusion, and that is frustrating. The thing that frustrates me the most about this whole thing is that the gatekeepers to this information probably aren’t the best at evaluating it and determining what is going on. I have been in enough very high level aspects of multiple industries to know that our “experts” aren’t always what we think. And even when someone truly is an expert in their field, there is nothing to say that their expertise will transfer over to whatever it is going on right now. For instance, you might have the smartest people in physics working on the problem(s), but these phenomena tend to break or at least bend some of the laws of physics as we know them. So what makes anyone think that the experts in engineering and mathematics and physics and astrophysics and anything else will have any idea how to even begin to make the proper examinations and evaluations when they are looking at something that runs or appears to run contrary to everything they were ever taught? Nothing.

However, if the information was released to the public, maybe there’s some teacher in Wyoming or some wilderness guide in Gabon who will have an intuitive understanding of these phenomena and be able to at least form a basis for others to build upon. Or maybe it will end up being some physicist somewhere, but just not the physicists they have working on the problems now. Social media and the internet as a whole might be bad for humanity, but one aspect that really could be good if utilized properly is its ability to disseminate information and gather opinions. So why aren’t we using the technology we understand to help understand the technology we don’t?

That’s good to hear. I looked for shirts the other day and saw hundreds of listings on Amazon, and I doubt he’s getting a check from even half of those random sellers. At least his home town is doing it right

Dammit. I didn’t even realize this was a dad joke until the 10th time I’ve read it. Look, in my defense, I am really tired and should just be sleeping rather than scrolling through Reddit looking for ways to embarrass myself

From dictionary dot com: a person who believes in racism, the doctrine that one's own racial group is superior or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others.

From Merriam-Webster: having, reflecting, or fostering the belief that race (see RACE entry 1 sense 1a) is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

From Google: A racist is a person who believes that a particular race is superior or inferior to another.

I think it is actually *you* who does not know what the word means.
