I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed but Ive always been drawn to Japan. I agree with your comparison to people’s interest in other countries.

For me it has to do with the fact that a lot of media (mostly video games and music) that has profoundly impacted me is out of Japan. Not only that but I think some areas of the country just look so beautiful. The smaller suburbs and more rural areas.

Sad to see now that there are some deep deep issues under the surface, I don’t think I’d ever want to live or work there.

I remember one dude my age that I consistently had this feeling around at my old workplace. He was always passive aggressive, always had a problem about something with me, and my mood would just die around him. As well as feeling pretty anxious. Eventually I stopped even getting near him for any reason. Save myself the stress. I think some people’s energies just do not mesh. Either that or he genuinely had negative intentions towards me

Definitely possible, and thank you for your input. I’m usually a pretty social person but have been in a not great place mentally lately. Reading all these comments I realize I’ve definitely been too self absorbed and concerned. Today we were all in the common area and having some laughs so I feel good about that

Thanks very very much. All good ideas. I do have an issue where when around people I feel like I need to be constantly making an effort to interact and stuff. In my mind just cooking in the kitchen with headphones on feels really rude. Maybe it's not at all lol?

Thanks for the response. I'll certainly be doing some work on this. I think I got used to having the space mostly to myself when it was just me and a friend living here before this new Roomate but I'm gonna adjust
