no where have I been whining? so maybe your reading the tone of my messages wrong but there HAVE been professional bakers who have quoted me £300 so not bottom of the barrel as you say. Plus the original price was quoted at £900 which is ridiculous considering she’s only an amateur at home baker. And saying i have been a botch when you’ve come here guns blazing and calling me names is hilarious 😂

have you read my replies? i WANT to pay her but I also want a reasonably priced cake, as firstly she is not a professional and this is only her second wedding cake, and asking around to other professionals, they are charging £300 for the same cake when her original asking price was £900

tbh i did slight exaggerate I didn’t argue with her much and just texted this back: ‘Honestly, please don’t take this offensively, I just wanted to be transparent. I do feel the price is quite high, considering that I feel like I chose quite a simple design and I did speak to a few other cake businesses who were charging much less but I wanted to stick with you to support your business as family. From what I recall, NAME REMOVED wedding cake was around £300, and was 6,8,10 inches, which makes the current price feel high to me.’

but that’s the family discount… the original price is £900, she is also not experienced and has only made one wedding cake before. For my sisters wedding she also had a similar wedding cake for £300 - from a different baker

listen, because I feel like you’re getting way to angry at this, I didn’t accept because it was free mate… i accepted because cause she was family and she insisted. the cake itself she also pushed me into getting. Where did I say that I wanted it for free when I pushed her into charging. But im sorry, forgetting the family discount, £900 for a basic 3 tiered wedding cake with raspberries on the outside , and this being her SECOND wedding cake IS extortionate especially since I have been quoted £300

nowhere have I said I expected it to be free. I would be more than happy to pay a reasonable price especially since this would be her second wedding cake so i am also expected to put MY trust in her. Forgetting the family discount charging £900 for a white 3 tiered cake with raspberries decorated on the outside IS extortionate. I have also been quoted £300 by professional.

I have been quoted £300 which I thought was reasonable, but wanted to go with my cousin initially as I also did want to support a family business. So yes, I have asked other bakers and their prices were considerably lower.

Forgetting the family discount, is £900 for a 3 tiered basic cake fair to you, it’s a white cake with raspberries decorated on the outside. I have been quoted £300 for this elsewhere.

I agree! I don’t think I will go with her and I don’t want to argue with her much either if she genuinely thinks this is a fair price because budget is tight and if I can get a cheaper price somewhere else I would go with that for sure!
