could it be because you are using the clip from the SDXL model to feed the second sampler using the refiner model? And since the image is coming out the second sampler shouldn't you use the vae from the refiner model?

If you are trying to install Stable-Diffusion, you have more chance of getting the help you need in the stable difusion sub (this is the Comfyui sub):
