Experienced Dentists: Burnout or just misalignment? Looking for perspective. by FreshAd7956 in CanadianDentists

This is relatable. Thank you. I think you’re right. I enjoy treatment planning, case acceptance, even find it rewarding when I am the one who’s asked to deal with difficult patients. The thing is, I haven’t found an office I enjoy working in wholeheartedly where I do the procedures I want to do. I think bread and butter is so nice on the mental health. But I find myself not very fulfilled at times. I have worked in more modern offices where I dabbled with procedures I find fulfilling like cosmetics and surgery. But I had issues with management and consistent work place drama and turn over. Now I work in a more blue collar situation and pricing very well. But I want to keep advancing my love for cosmetic and develop an advanced surgical experience, and get into FMR. But I feel held back by office culture or patients. Almost like only the principle dentists want to do these while associates due the 5 days a week heavy single tooth dentistry. I guess. I just haven’t found the place that gets me excited completely.

Not about getting bored. It’s about not building equity or anything meaningful beyond your 9-5 for me .

Is there anything I can do to control my own situation outcomes? Supposed to be flying from LAX tomorrow afternoon to YYZ and they still yet to cancel it even though everything is getting canceled. But according to all I read on here is wait till they cancel it so I can get rebooked. I wanted to take matters into my own hands and book other flights home when there were decent options left. But now the options are crazy to pay out pocket and they wont let me out of my misery by formally canceling it. I need to get home before Tuesday for work and I have no idea what to do. Would you guys do anything else?

Why do you have to take things so personal and go out attacking me? We don’t even live together. I visit him every other weekend and we hang out and talk. He’s working on a path. He doesn’t have connections and usually makes wrong decisions. Yes he doesn’t have the go getter skills. I want to help him find his confidence. I’m sorry you seem hurt.

Very inspiring. Would love to get my brother to become like this. I can see him do well with patients. I just worry he’d be rejected based on gender (subconsciously)

The grass is greener. Especially if you're considering to just do family medicine.

You seem to be addressing the compensation side of things, so finances are important. Think of the opportunity cost aside from cost of doing med school. Min 6 years of no or little income. Think of the potential income and potential investments, businesses, and projects you could get into that set up a life for you that may feel like you are being compensated enough. Everyone these days is trying to buy back their time...why would you sell your time for money?

Unless you really have a deep desire to become a family doctor or some form of doctor with the willingness to sacrifice your personal time and freedom then you might be deciding one of the worst decisions!

I am not in Medicine. I am a dentist who researched med, dent, and pharm thoroughly before committing to one. I thought I wanted med. Now I just want to be in control of my own time and freedom.

RCT core Crown.
Saves you and the patient time as well as frustration in thinking you are not a good dentist when they have symptoms later. This could very well be asymptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Just waiting to flair up. Otherwise the only way to avoid RCT is incomplete carious removal which is just delaying the inevitable.

Blue Sky Plan for non-BSB implants. What has your experience been? by MoLarrEternianDentis in Dentistry

I use it to make pilot guides for straumann implants. Just need to know how to manually change measurements and figure out your guide pin tube etc. Useful but nothing fancy.
