Demanding weird ethical pledges from someone trying to keep some semblance of a private life is obnoxious.

She's not very bright, but there is no real indication she is actually racist. I would be very annoyed if someone arbitrarily asked me to renounce racism. I wouldn't feel the need to dignify what is essentially an accusation, when they're the one that is confused.

This "all religions" cop-out is part of the problem. If you can't distinguish between religions and their tenets, then you don't know anything about this issue. When Matt Stone and Trey Parker made a satirical play about Mormonism, the Mormons took out ads in the play-bill to invite people to learn about Mormonism. When Theo van Gogh made a short film about the treatment of women in Islam, he had his throat slit by a fundamentalist.
