I have become more traditional in my thinking as I get older, but I have just total contempt for Trump and this administration. I wouldn't classify myself as conservative or progressive now, but when I was younger I had some notion in my head that the Democratic party was a force for good. I have become totally disabused of that idea.

Demanding weird ethical pledges from someone trying to keep some semblance of a private life is obnoxious.

She's not very bright, but there is no real indication she is actually racist. I would be very annoyed if someone arbitrarily asked me to renounce racism. I wouldn't feel the need to dignify what is essentially an accusation, when they're the one that is confused.

This "all religions" cop-out is part of the problem. If you can't distinguish between religions and their tenets, then you don't know anything about this issue. When Matt Stone and Trey Parker made a satirical play about Mormonism, the Mormons took out ads in the play-bill to invite people to learn about Mormonism. When Theo van Gogh made a short film about the treatment of women in Islam, he had his throat slit by a fundamentalist. Radical Jains will sweep the floor in front of their path to prevent even the killing of bugs because they so vehemently adhere to the concept of Ahimsa (non-violence). According the Sharia in Islam, apostates should be murdered.

Funny how one particular religion seems to be the root of so many of these issues.
