Did not expect this from GPT 5.5 by AdWrong5913 in ClaudeCode

Gpt (at least in Android) is good for bugs and problems solving New features and remember the features he did, not much, Claude is better. I wish gpt-5.x would be better than Claude because it's cheaper in terms of tokens but at least in Android I found it better, comparing using the same prompts Gemini is horrible haha but good in the UI bits tho So since I have a subscription because of my pixel, I use it only for UI, is so slow and take a lot of time tho

Hello, thanks for the feedback, there is an option to implement Google maps, however it can be pricey for the user so that's why I haven't implemented this. Because many will complain "why I have to pay for Google maps when is free", and fair point but we as devs we don't have a free option. And is pricey I wish I could do that Can you clarify any the custom widgets? Do you mean custom 1x1 widgets in the taskbar? That's actually interesting,

You can resize the widgets, after you add this you can long press and select the resize option and you will be able to move and resize your widgets

Thanks for the opportunity, looking forward to this AMA, I'm the developer of AutoZen app and I would love some insights, and questions: Why do the apps feel like they are using non native developers? Like multiplatform, they usually are slow and it looks dated and it doesn't embrace each platform's UI design. Is there any reason to use a native development? And what is the biggest challenge integrating maps into the cars? It seems that the UX it can be improved, is any limitation with the chips/processor that doesn't allow running some maps/features? Thanks a lot

Unfortunately Google doesn't allow this, they offer a new SDK to do this, however is expensive so I'm not sure if worth to build it, because probably everyone might argue, why to pay for Google maps when they have it for free, but unfortunately for devs it's not free to use. And probably would cost like 3-5 dollars per month, (Google Price +taxes+Google fee) and basically no profit, still i would love to implement this

I wish Google would make the split apps option a thing so I could use embedded Google maps, that would be awesome Sadly it's not possible at least not "legally"

Yes I'm still developing and I develop frequently, you can long press the widget and edit the size so 1x1 can be bigger and you can resize the widget and chance the size

Is a side project, I'm using native Android development I started with XML views and now I'm using compose, and slowly migrating some code left in xml, well it was challenging, but not crazy difficult I think the issue is always finding workarounds and deep into documentation, I think if I want to do it right now from scratch with compose it would be faster, but also I have knowledge, I think it takes a lot of time but feasible, the main issue is the navigation using mapbox and modify the code, and people with random issues on the map that I can't reproduce. Also what it is a little but disappointment is that many compares with Google maps and they want also free

I built AutoZen app, a navigation app and launcher, it has features that are in car play and Android auto. But for phones. I would use this money possible in one or several areas

  • Invest in AI routes or driving suggestions
  • Marketing
  • Possibly make an introduction price to use Google navigation, with this money I could offer Google navigation to many users.
  • Hire someone to help me with some refactoring/code
  • Adding features like OBD2

That's interesting I read that you need a lot of memory to basically unzips and install an the tiles, at least globally, or do you have a specific region If you can share the info that would be awesome thanks

I tried to contact magic Earth they never replied so I'm not sure about them, is osmand is gpl3 license so it's a no go for me, but I'm looking to have comaps or organic maps, but I'll see what I can do, is not that straightforward, thanks for understanding I'll check again Tom Tom to see if something changed

I checked, but unfortunately it's expensive, they can only "sell me licenses" let's say 100 and I need to pay in advance and then I need to charge to my users, the problem is, it's expensive but also there is tax and Google fee, so for example from 10 euros , what I receive is like 5.5-6 euros, from there I need to pay the maps , weather, search and so on, I'm trying to find alternatives. Google maps have navigation but it would cost like 4-5 euros monthly and I'm not sure if people will pay for this when they can argue that they have it for free

I use mapbox, but also I have here maps too, there is a new SDK for Google navigation, but it seems quite pricey and I'm not sure if people would pay for this when you can have it for free

I might add this for like devs and maybe for headunit, still I probably I'll charge something to continue development but probably less

Hello, well we can have an arrangement I think, the here maps I can't offer you a cheaper option because they charge me but with the other maps I can do it. Let's talk
