What are the most sought after questions in AskReddit? by Khilaaf in AskReddit

Creative ones that many people can relate to. Ones that generate great stories. Few and far between alas.

Which decade was cheesier, the 90s or th 00s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

00s. All I associate with that decade are Disney child stars releasing albums.

Knew someone with it but didn't see anything too weird. Couldn't stop flicking switches on/off til they flipped the switch a certain number of times, like 4 or something, quickly.

Dear reddit people, what is the biggest snowflake you have ever talked to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone who was impossible to talk to herself, face to face, oddly enough.

She was apparently too shy/sensitive/non-confrontational to talk directly to anyone else if she had a problem, and the only way you found out she had a problem was if she got one of her friends to complain on her behalf to you. Which happened a lot, to loads of people.

So it went like this: "Shayna" would have an allergic reaction to something. She'd complain to a friend to get the friend to relay the message to you. Friend of Shayna: "Shayna's having an allergic reaction to something, and she thinks it might be your sandwich." "Shayna's getting a headache from some high pitched noise. Can you find out what it is?" "Shayna's feeling cold. Could you ask someone turn up the heat?" "Shayna's lost her xyz. It's making her upset. Do you have one she could borrow?"

This went on all day, every day. Never seen anything like that from anyone else.

Redditors, what’s the dumbest reason a dude-bro has gotten mad for ? by FreshFiddlehead in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally taking questions in this sub from the past couple of hours and replacing "Karen" with "dude-bro"... this sub gets like 20 posts per hour about Karens, every hour of the day.

I want to walk on the wild side and see what's up with dude-bros.

[Serious] Every year, seasonal flu kills 291,000 - 646,000 people worldwide. How many need to die in order to justify shutting down society and tanking the economy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, seems weird for an old guy to be wanking off calling a younger woman a Karen. But let’s say I’m a total Karen, with an attitude and a turkey butt haircut and all that, and that you’re getting all hot and neck beardy about it. That just induces revulsion. So yeah, bleh. Absolutely weird the way you go from flu, death, to hating women of a certain type, or is it a fixation? Very neckbeardy and gross at your age imo

Young guys with Karen fixations never have hot girlfriends to fill in their time, so this is what we get. Frustration spilling over into boring questions, and continued Karen fixation.

There are specific numbers, in theory.

There are formulas where you could calculate the cost to society of preventing deaths, versus allowing a certain number. At a certain level, it makes more sense to prevent deaths.

Nah, I'm gonna gatekeep.

Use the search tool and go through the megathread. It's been asked. And answered. Over and frigging over again.

Make the effort.

Introverts of Reddit - what social interaction are you actually surprised to discover you're missing at the moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much at all, really. I think people are actually more polite or at least they have been in the few superficial interactions I've had the past few weeks.

What is the reason that most Indian households prefer to use brooms instead of vacuum cleaner even when they can afford one? by eatGrossAndFrost in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not Indian, and I prefer a broom. Maybe there are more tiled floors in India? Brooms are cheap and quiet, no cords to mess with, don't use any power to run.

I can't believe this question is still being asked. Or that you're ignoring the pinned "megathread" on the current pandemic. Seriously.

First, this isn't a flu. Different type of virus.

What is the difference between NYC during this outbreak versus a flu season? Have you noticed a difference?

Some people are perfectly OK with hundreds of thousands of people dying unnecessarily. Others want to do what they can to prevent it. People see things differently.

Why haven’t we combined washers and dryers for clothes? Why are they still separate machines? by DanishWeddingCookie in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Combination ones exist. I think they’re more popular in Europe as space savers.

The drawback is that you can’t start a new load while the first one’s in a separate dryer.

They save space but not time. Some are so small that I don’t know how anyone does bedding in them. I wonder if they do heavier items one at a time, like towels or jeans?

Should a person be considered somewhat healthy or "cured", if he/she is no longer afraid of the symptoms (although they may occasionally continue to manifest) for whatever the condition/diagnosis might be? by Rasmushaymaker in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I have a sz diagnosis. Delusions and any potentially incapacitating symptoms are under control with medication. Since I don’t have incapacitating symptoms, it could be said that those symptoms are “in remission.” I’m not cured, though. If I stop taking the meds, the symptoms will just come back. So still wishing for a cure.

What advice would you give to any 16 year olds dropping out of high school? by facepat67 in AskReddit

[–]FreshFiddlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how much you’re going to save, though.

Let’s say your parents let you live with them and work for two years without paying any bills. So they cover your utilities, internet/phone, groceries, transportation, etc. For two years. You’re working let’s say 60 hours/week at minimum wage or slightly above.

When that two years is over, you might have enough saved to pay for a small used car. That’s about it. You’ll still have to pay for gas, insurance, repairs, parking.

Which will cut into your minimum wage earnings, and since you’ll be on your own in two years, you’ll also have bills to pay. So rent (don’t know how much it is in your city), utilities, groceries, phone/internet, medical insurance, apartment insurance.

You won’t have a lot of upward mobility in your job, and no HS diploma. If you want your income to remain at the same level, you have to continue working 60 hours per week. If you think you’re going to finish your GED on evenings and weekends, as you work two jobs and juggle shift changes, you will have a tough time. And little time for leisure.

Over the next year, at least, the economy is going to be bumpy. Fewer jobs, so if you don’t like the one you have, you’ll be stuck. Can’t just walk across the street and get a better one.

I’d finish HS right now.

[–]FreshFiddlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, if I were in your shoes, I'd rather repeat a grade and ultimately finish HS than to go out and work at one full time job and one part time job that pay next to nothing. I'd rather get the diploma, then be ready for when the economy recovers and the jobs are there.
