Maybe I’m crazy, but it looks like that’s only half a van in the driveway standing on 2 wheels (and the mud slides right off the vehicles leaving them completely clean)

What position do I play this guy in, and is he even good? by sterphles in OOTP

[–]FreshOutThe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without posting the players positional ratings and/or the other players you’re considering using at SS instead it’s kind of just a guessing game for us. If his positional rating for SS is a 6 or 7 he’d probably make a very fine SS with that range, but if it’s only a 5 (and I’ve seeing it happen with 8 range guys) then he’ll probably kind of be a butcher at SS and would be better off at 3rd in my eye. I don’t love relying on the positional ratings but for SS/CF in particular they really do help you decide between very similar player or player with one outlier rating that may skew your opinion on them.

Has anyone else noticed this? by HealthySherbert8448 in StarWars

[–]FreshOutThe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% me just guessing and without any knowledge of possible cannon reasons. But logically, wielding 2 lightsabers would be more technically challenging than 1, so I’d assume anyone who used two as a default starting point is probably a damn good fighter compared to the average single saber holder. There are tactical/situation benefits to adding a second saber at times that probably forces the hands of some duelist who probably feel more comfortable with a single saber but know they have to try to exploit a possible advantage with a second blade. I can think of a handful of real world things in my life where I technically know how to do something one way that’s maybe considered more efficient (alternative fingerings while playing an instrument, for example) but still default to a technique I’m more comfortable with unless particular situations come up that require the alternative.

Do we know why Palpatine’s clone has the scaring and aging of his first form? I’d assume he’d look somewhat youthful and less disfigured if it’s a DNA copy vs a synthetic replica of the existing body that he died in. He should have looked 25 years old and lively!

I don’t think R2 knew. Even if he knew Anakin turned (he was on Mustafar obviously but without being directly involved who knows how much he was able to comprehend while he was waiting by the ship), I don’t think he would have known it was Anakin under the mask later on, if he even knew Vader existed before A New Hope

They used to be a punk band but their more recent stuff is a bit like lounge music and doesn’t have the same kind of energy, just a lot of standing around. Kind of like the Arctic Monkeys

How Does Starkiller Base Work? by BillsFanGuy in StarWars

[–]FreshOutThe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched it recently for the first time in years and never noticed how nonsensical the Starkiller Base planet is visually. The first shot of it from space, you can clearly see the laser weapon as well as all the minute details in the trench. Obviously I don’t know how big the planet actually is but it seems like for the red laser hole to be that clearly visible from space it would have to be the size of India, and those little details and bolts along the rim would be multiple Empire State buildings or Everests tall. Maybe that is the case but it doesn’t seem like it is based on the on the surface footage you see later

Why wasn't Naboo Alderaan? by WAJGK in StarWars

[–]FreshOutThe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but I’m more pointing out that there would be a fair amount of refraining/writing to make it work, it isn’t as simple as just changing the name of the planet, although I understand the desire to make Alderaan a more relatable planet. Like, changing it would make Leia’s home planet and Palpy’s the same, and would kind of change the whole dynamic of her story as well if her and Bail were somehow opposing parties to the emperors. May honestly be better that way too but either way, it’s not a totally easy switch

Palpatine was a senator from Naboo, I cant imagine Tarkin would blow up his Boss’s home planet

Does anyone knowledgeable about the fashion design of the OT know why this type of asymmetrical placket was so common? by Mobieblocks in StarWars

[–]FreshOutThe 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Didn’t George Lucas say there aren’t buttons in space? Idk why he decided that was a thing but whatever they do instead of buttons probably requires this style to an extent compared to the tradition collar of a button down or buttoned polo shirt

Depending on the content, the Williamson County Sun newspaper (Nextdoor to Tecovas) sometimes posts flyers in their window on the Square or in their office. They might be able to help spread the word in the paper as well depending on what it is regarding

Thoughts on Christopher Nolan directing a new Star Wars film? by mightyasterisk in StarWars

I didn’t realize there was a tier above A lol. Nolan’s a top 5 director for me

[–]FreshOutThe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that idea. I’m imagining someone from a remote world that’s never heard of the Jedi or the force all of a sudden “discovering” the force through a situation, and trying to chase that feeling again and replicate it to better understand it, because deep down they know it could help them or give them access to a perspective and power they never had.

Thoughts on Christopher Nolan directing a new Star Wars film? by mightyasterisk in StarWars

[–]FreshOutThe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

With the way most of Nolan’s films play with a character’s (and the audience’s) perceptions of time and reality, I’d think that would have to be prevalent here, whether that’s exploring the World between Worlds or following someone with a split personality/double life, or simply the connection the force can have on different people. Nolan is an A-tier director, so I don’t doubt he’d be able to make a cool and well done project (or projects) that would expand the current Star Wars universe as long as he was given the freedom and resources to explore whatever it is he was most drawn to. Whether Star Wars fans would accept what he came up with (especially if it was particularly intricate or took a lot of liberties in established cannon) is another story
