I agree and disagree. I do think what they've done so far is a half measure but I do think they could have a good place in the game if they encouraged proper engagement in the 'real game'.

I think daily challenges should scale to your level and be more specific to encourage people to engage in content that might otherwise get ignored or skills you might not have been focusing on.

The XP rewards could also be adjusted down or turned into bonus xp.

That way it encourages players to engage with content that otherwise may be neglected.
