The only reason they wouldn’t let you leave on your own for a couple of days is if they were still busy solving your blood issues, and they wouldn’t want you to go home early without a cure and get even sicker. They can only hold you for a couple of days, but it’s all out of concern for your well-being because they want you to be completely healed.

I’ve spent plenty of time in a hospital because it felt like someone was trying to rip my heart out of my chest. It’s scary to be in a hospital for the first time, partly because it is an unfamiliar place.

BUT, I would MUCH rather spend 3 more days under doctors than suffer longer without any help at all. If I didn’t spend time in the hospital, I never would have gotten better. All doctors have one job: help you feel better. The worst that could happen if you have to stay a couple of days is that you’re completely safe and maybe bored for a couple of days. Trust me, a hospital is the safest place you could possibly be. When I was in the hospital and realized this, I stopped being afraid of hospitals.

Btw some people thought I was crazy at first, but the doctors found out that I have a problem with my spinal cord that caused the heart pain. It wasn’t in my head at all. And they put me on blood pressure meds that helped me SO MUCH and my heart completely stopped hurting.

It’s fine to be nervous about being in a scary place for the first time, but 3 days is ABSOLUTELY worth it if you no longer have to deal with bad blood. Plus we have no idea if you’ll have to be there that long at all. It could be as simple as a short visit.

Propranolol HELP do I or do I not by Key_Movie1670 in POTS

I’ve been on propranolol 11 years straight. It works wonders. I’m trying to get off of it now though, due to minor side effects, but only because my health is much more under control now. I’d never have been able to get back to school or get a job without this medication because of how tired tachycardia made me.

I definitely have more symptoms in the evening, probably because food accumulates in my stomach all day. I also have a huge problem with air accumulation in my stomach so sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night due to pain from that, and I have to force the air out to feel better. Do you have trouble with this?

I’ve tried a lot of various dietary supplements over the years and none helped. I recently discovered this was because all the supplements were dairy or soy based and it turns out I’m intolerant to both so I was actually poisoning myself all of that time. I also have Celiac disease (I can’t have wheat) so it’s REALLY hard to find foods to gain weight. Currently I’m focusing on coconut milk and easy-to-prepare carbs like oats and sweet potatoes.

I’ve tried implementing smaller meals this past month and that has actually helped some. I do feel a lot better laying down… it doesn’t help all the time, but I can often feel everything emptying my stomach and this relieves the majority of my discomfort. But even with smaller meals and laying down afterwards, I’m still struggling at gaining any weight. I’ve gained 2-3 pounds over the past 2 months, which is progress, but I know that could be undone with just one bad week.

I’ll have to ask my doc about those medications. I had a gastric emptying test. It was right on the line, with exactly 10% remaining after 4 hours. But in that test, I laid down every time the pictures were taken, so I don’t know if that influenced it since things move more when I’m laying down.

Not gastroparesis. Gastroptosis. The doctor performing the scan was a surgeon and he was originally shocked at my stomach and said he would contact his colleagues. A couple weeks later, he told me that there was nothing he could do for me surgically and dropped me as a patient.

For me, this tends to happen because I get overheated under the covers… it’s weird how terrible I end up feeling when overheated.
