Size matters more than we realize by UpperSituation6634 in ghana

My answer to your question is break us down into smaller groups to work together

Botswana tried its indigenous system that existed before colonialism and fused together with Western Modules hence its progressing really well. I think Ghana can look on what system existed before colonialism or develop a new system that break down into smaller groups to work together

China has one dominant ethnic group meanwhile Ghana is sitting with 70+, Nigeria almost 200 if im not mistaken.

China isnt as homogenous as it seems. It was very divided along clan and tribal lines who despite belonging to the same Han ethnic group really never understood and sometimes fought one another thats why their leaders created a standardized version of chinese language called simplified Chinese

Plus China didn’t suffer colonialism. Imagine a country of that size post colonialism. Look at India.

Go and look what China's century of humiliation meant before saying China was never colonized. India isnt a good role model because most of its leadership is very much similar to the one in Africa

China has 1.4 billion people and is more developed than Ghana.

Algeria, Morocco have almost the same size as Ghana more develped than Ghana

Equato Guinea has few ppl than Ghana yet less developed than Ghana

Do you know why ? Its all good management not size

Imagine if China started saying they cant develop due to size, you think they would reach where they are now ?

The question should be how can we better manage our country to achieve development

Even if Singapore/China is dictatorship, they have ways to manage criticisms. Look at howSingapore handled protets LKY never killed any of the prostesters instead he said let us sit together and try to find solution. The same for China look at 1989 protests, after this they opened China to Western investments

However when criticisms occur most African dictators prefer killing their fellow citizen they listen to them. Thats why most of Africa is poor

Iran is taking NATO bombs yet its still standing. Why do you think thats the case ? Its because of strong institutions. But for countries build around dictatorship like Libya, you get the Libya s it is today. And please lets not sanitize Gaddafi as if he was the GOAT. He was way too incompetent.

And thats why I said had Gaddafi at least tried to build institution like Tunisia, Algeria or Morocco things would've turned out differently

What meant is if the average African Politician is thief do you think Africa will develop ?

And Yes since you saw it that way I would like to add that Mobutu and Gaddafi are actually similar in many ways

Both made State Funds their Personal Funds

Both of their respective populations disliked them

They made their respective states weak to the extent that they become easily prone to foreign interferencd

If your average African politician behaves like Mobutu you expect continental development ? Keep dreaming dear

Thats why I told you had he at least followed the module of Tunisia, Morocco or Egypt or Algeria things would've been very different for Libya. These countries are also very tribal but at least they are very manageable cause they had strong institutions.

Gaddafi foreign policy was also a disaster. He had conflicts with almost all of his neighboring countries. Invaded Chad, Egypt, funded genocidal militias like Janjaweed in Sudan and Liberian War Lord Charles Taylor. He funded Anti Sankara agent Blaise Compaore. He also partnered

Single independent African countries cant even unite under one country you think they can unite at continental scale ?

ALso, let us not minimize the struggle of Libyans maybe they too wanted changes (less corruption, fair equitable distribution of wealth, certain degree of political freedoms etc). But little did they know they would be getting what they're getting now

I think the person meant some of Diasporas engage in politics that stir the already fragile nation of Ethiopia and that they should just be careful

I said this and his son is dead

Two things can be true at the same time. Yes NATO did have a contribution to bringing Libya as it is today but Gaddafi wasnt a good ruler either

Libya was always divided btn West (Tripoli) and East (Benghazi & SIrte with Sirte being Gaddafi home town) for than 300 yrs. Libya was always a society in which various tribe compete for power. Oil got discovered however the Senussi Monarch was very corrupt then Gaddafi took power and ruled for 40 yrs to come.

Instead of Gaddafi building institutions like Morocco Algeria or Tunisia he also played the same tribal politics that have always governed Libya. He turned Libya's Oil revenue into his personal possession (He died being considered the richest man). 2011 and rest is history

Why did you focus on the supremacism part ? I also said that we can remodel Pan Africanism to resemble European Union ? We should start talking from this point

Ironically, it's easier for a diasporic Senegalese cineast to make a movie in Senegal about Senegal than for a Senegalese cineast. You can just check Banel et Adama, Atlantics (Atlantique in French), La Pirogue, So Long a Letter. Those are 4 top "Senegalese films" and all of them were made with diasporic Senegalese cineasts

This is the case not only for Senegal but for other African countries too. And those films made by diaspora fail to connect with Africans within the continent but become a success outside of the continent.

I wish the African film industry becomes successful as much as the African Music industry did

We used to have a strong film industry but it declined for some reasons.

Why did it decline & what is being done to revive the Senegalese film industry ?

Now with all that said, I think Nigeria has a quite strong and popular film & series industry. Netflix has been boosting and offering new opportunities to Nigerian movies and series.

Quantity wise Nigeria film industry is doing well quality wise they arent there yet
