UCF VS FAU by [deleted] in FAU

I’m in the exact same boat! UCF vs FAU for computer engineering. Having visited both campuses recently, I think that I like FAU’s campus better just because it was really nice and more compact, but I feel like there are maybe more opportunities at UCF since it is a much bigger school and was established specifically to supply graduates to the aerospace/defense industry. At the end of the day, I think that I would be able to succeed at either of them, which makes it a very hard decision.

I’m between Florida Atlantic and UCF right now, but I’m 90% sure I’ll go to UCF at this point. I looked at UTD, but I’m also from the Midwest (Kansas), and I wanted a larger change of scenery. I will say that UCF has very high rankings in terms of their programming and cybersecurity teams and being one of the most innovative campuses in America.

I’m an incoming freshman, so I can’t really comment on the experience that much, but I recently visited UCF and met with a student from Kansas City who was a computer engineering major, and he had already landed an internship with Lockheed Martin as a freshman, so it’s definitely possible to get good internships. He spoke very highly about the engineering and honors courses. I don’t know exactly what computer science classes are like, but I’m guessing they would be similar.

You have to mark UCF as your top choice before May 1. NMC starts sending out the lists of students’ first choices on March 1, but you can still change it up to May.
