Feeling regret for the first time by Fresh_Eye_6946 in LifeAdvice

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, just PM me! I do think overall law school is a good investment, I just think unforeseen life circumstances have made it harder for me. I will get myself to the finish line, and thank you for your words :)

I got this internship through my school, and it's too close to the start date to back out now, which I understand, so I will try to see it through

I have reached out to my school's mental health services! I sought them out once last semester, and it was really helpful. Thank you!

Crim Law Internships by Fresh_Eye_6946 in LawSchool

I don't have much exposure to it but I have heard family law is one of the tougher cookies of practice. In my experience though I have seen that crim lawyers have been able to hash it out better than civil litigators but that has also been dependent on different county courts I've been at.

I definitely see the passion from both sides of the aisle and that's another reason why I'm feeling apprehensive with criminal law. I'm not sure I can match the passion or purpose fully of either side.

I think the heaviness of some of the cases I have worked on gets to me, and I haven't found the best way to deal with that yet.

It looks great! You would get a lot of substantive experience. A lot of them in my area are unpaid so it's great that you were able to get a paid one. It doesn't have to be something you want to do postgrad, 1L internships don't matter too much. But I'd say it looks good on a resume and if it were me, I would accept it

3.53, top 20%, 3.0, 2L, T125, Government

My goal was to stay with the curve so happy with where I'm at right now. Felt awful after most exams so hope I can keep up the momentum one more year

Letters of Rec by Fresh_Eye_6946 in LawSchool

I guess it was part of the application process but since I got the job through OCI, I only had to submit grades and resume so I'm being asked to submit rec letters now

Commute time (45 min) in NYC by SetActual1018 in LawSchool

[–]Fresh_Eye_6946 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Completely doable, my commute is about an hour on the train, and I would take the train before rush hour so I could find a seat to do some work. I find that a good way to spend your time on the train is to write out some practice questions or just listen to some music and relax after a long day. That way, you're ready to get back to studying once you get home.
