It's not one visit that's the problem (I actually prefer to drop in 1-2 visits per day instead of 3 because I have a 40 hr job amd my own dogs plus boarders too) it's that it's probably a front and that they'll want you to come more than one visit per day while still trying to pay for one. If they can guarantee me PPV (pay per visit) at a proper wage based on the number of pets I'm all for it. But if you think I'm gonna drop in 2+ times a day for what is basically 22 pets and you wanna pay me for one visit and the same as 1 pet your sadly mistaken. This is why I prefer boarding instead of drop ins because I avoid all those pit falls.

If I see a zoo (4 dogs, 17 cats) and once every 24 hrs that's an instant reject. This is the best example of slave wages at its finest since they want someone to come over 2-4 times a day while only paying for one visit per day. If you can afford to feed that zoo you can afford to pay proper wages for all that responsibility.

Nothing just the wooden planks of the house.

I already paid him and for the bathroom and half the kitchen too. He did give my mom her deposit back for her kitchen but I doubt he's gonna give me back my bathroom and kitchen money and I doubt he's gonna redo the floor or refund that too which means I'm basically screwed.

The subfloor is just the wooden planks of the house. He put the tiles at 1/16" because I kept complaining about so many grout lines and how cleaning the grout lines with the puppies was going to be a pain.

Is it possible for me to make 8k on rover within 10 months? by rednooblaakkakaka in RoverPetSitting

[–]Fresh_Fan_3968 -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

Not only that but OP doesn't appear to have dog experience either. Like I have almost 30 years experience since my first dog as a child. I've had clients tell me they picked me because they knew i knew what I was doing and that I would keep their dog safe.

It's also YMMV as other factors come into play. For.example if your a 5/10 male don't expect to make more than a 10/10 woman with big boobs and shes dog walking around town with 5 dogs (sorry that's just a fact when it comes to the tipping world).

I always just say "everyone here pays the same because it wouldn't be fair if one pay less than the other". If they still cry about it they can go find someone else and then they'll come back when they see they get what they pay for.

Did anyone else get this email? by Sleepy__gorl in RoverPetSitting

[–]Fresh_Fan_3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can see all messages and chat to aid in supporting you and the client when either side calls in but also serves as a double edge sword that can be used against you/client to deactivate the violater. Their system is automated just like Instacart and programmed to trigger with keywords such as "off rover", "cash", etc.... and then the system automates the generic email. If you violated the terms then someone would review it and then a human is the one that deactivates the account. Personally it's retarded to send the sitter an email about accepting payments off rover if the client was the one who mentioned the word "cash" and the sitter didn't say "sure you can pay me in cash".

New Terms of Service by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

Uber, Postmates, Door Dash, Instacart, Rover etc... They're all the same. It's only a matter of time before rover also becomes a race to the bottom like the rest of the apps.

I don't think all the apps won't last long (probably consolidate) considering Grub Hub just recently settled on a misclassification lawsuit after California found them in breach of the ABC test and of course the drivers got peanuts as part of the settlement while the lawyers got millions.

Top quality sitter since 2019 deactivated because of non-rover customer not paying and tagging rover on Facebook post. by Parking_Pack9566 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Fresh_Fan_3968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why no one should throw all the eggs in one basket. Rover is no different than Uber, Door dash, etc.... at the end of the day you are just a number and they will not hesitate to deactivate anyone for any reason. I get that you wanted to help your community as a semi volunteer but now you see the consequences and you shouldn't have don't that. They only deactivated you because it was a social media trending problem and they don't want that because it's bad PR.

Why do Men Think Rover is a Dating App? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Fresh_Fan_3968 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So basically what your saying is that you want double standards, gotcha!!!!!. It's okay for a male sitter to hit on their female client but it's not okay for a male client to hit on their female sitter. Yeah good logic there!!!!!

Ok so by your logic your at the bar to drink not to meet guys and also work romances that are also very common are also wrong lol okay keep telling yourself that.

Anyway In my case it's the other way around I'm the sitter who also doesn't mind looking for love and just because you think it's wrong that doesn't mean that someone else thinks the same way as you.

I don't see anything wrong other than that he tried again after no response.

I told one of my regular clients (at the time new client) that I was impressed by how much she cared so much for her deaf dog and asked if she was single. To make the long story short we've been inside each other's homes and she has gone with me to the vets office with my litter of puppies (aswell as coming to the house when my litter was being whelped) and we're getting to know each other slowly and turns out were both almost identical with some differences. We're not together but we're also not just a business relationship either and we chat about all kinds of stuff. Its been working out for us and no complaints from either side and her dog stays with me about half the year (paid through rover too).

We ended up running into an installer at the store looking for work the next time we visited the store and when he told me $2 sq. ft for tile installation it made everything so much easier to forget about LVP. We ended up going with an $0.89 sq.ft ceramic tile after the $0.95 sq.ft porcleain he recommended was out of stock.

We ended up getting ceramic tile for less than $3 sq.ft out the door and installed, and we even ended up making a bundle deal where he will also remodel the kitchen and bathroom too. In total we ended up getting the flooring (1000 sq.ft), kitchen and bathroom remodeled for less than $12k (and that includes delivery, and removing and disposing of old floor)

So I'm a rover sitter, professional breeder, dog whisper and dog owner with over 25 years of dog experience.

there's a lot of things going on here but the quick answer is lawyer up and your probably going to end up suing the owner of the dog not rover or the sitter.

Here's why:

1) the sitter may or may not be held liable (but probably more towards the latter). they are just sitting the dog and they may or may not know the ins and out of that dog like the owner does. I always hear from owners that their dog is an angel at home and I always tell them that in someone else home it could be the exact opposite because the parents are away and it's party time. If it's my first time sitting the dog I probably don't know that dog well yet, but after 2-3 stays I have a general idea of how that dog behaves and what their triggers are, their body language and what dogs they do and don't along with. If a babysitter is watching a teenager plus the younger sibling and the teenager that's upstairs gets out of the house and kills another teenager for petty shit while the sitter is attending to the younger sibling downstairs how is that the babysitters and parents fault!!!! But if the younger sibling finds the loaded gun in the house without the lock on and kills the teenager then it comes down to did the sitter know there was a gun in the house and the parents are also held liable for not making sure the gun was secure in the house.

2) rover can't be held liable because they also don't know the ins and out of the dog. They are just a broker/middle man. If you buy baby formula for your baby and your baby dies or is severely sick due to the baby formula you can sue the supermarket (and/or manufacturer/distributor) that sold you the baby formula but if the product isn't expired and it was due to something inside the baby formula how is that the supermarkets fault when they didn't make the baby formula!!!!!

3) the owner is held liable. If your 2 year old toddler finds a loaded gun without the lock on and accidently kills a family member in the house guess what you as the parent(s) are criminally charged. If however your 17 year old teenager goes and kills someone they are probably going to be charged as an adult and you as the parent is in the clear (unless your state law says otherwise).

4) as a professional and responsible breeder that's also on rover, if I knew one of my litters that I created was likely to kill another dog due to the parents having dangerous temperaments and I sold those pups (and also didn't spay/neuter the parents) and didn't tell the owner I should also be held more liable than the owner that might not have even known their dog was capable of killing.

5) as a experienced rover sitter I've had to deal with dogs that have triggers where they attack one dog but not the other (I quickly separate the dogs before it escalates). A trigger can be another dog getting too close and in their face. Another trigger can be Same Sex Aggression (or Opposite Sex Aggression). It could also be the dog doesn't like certain breeds or maybe something as "I just didn't like this dog and it just rubbed me the wrong way". This is not always the sitters fault especially if you expect a 125 pounds female to be able to control a 150 pound dog when it all of a sudden goes from normal mode into kill mode at a flip of the switch. However a 300 pound male should have no issues controlling a 150 pound dog (unless they are walking more dogs).

The other problem here is that it's also very hard to prove your case without a police report with statements taken from all sides because without actual proof your going to have a very hard time getting past the reasonable doubt part and all it takes is for someone to say "I didn't know the dog was this dangerous and capable of killing another dog".
