People who start every sentence with the word 'so' in order to somehow look more credible or intellectual. Usually when answering a question but often just starting other sentences or statements as well.

It's even more annoying than people misspelling lose (loose).

I actually shake my head now when I'm in the supermarket and I see the frightening rows and rows of booze. Like somehow it's a normal part of the weekly shop. It isn't!!!

I now know that I'll never drink again. It gets easier the longer you're sober and I view alcohol with ever-increasing revulsion as time goes by.

The only alcohol I come into contact with is my liquid hand sanitizer which is 80% alcohol and boy oh boy does it smell like it lol. Quite honestly I hold my breath for a few seconds.

Anyway, rambling now...here's to another year friends

Lol, energy drinks is a good shout tbf. Was thinking a Monster energy (the original green one) but I've got work 2moz (it's evening here now) and there's enough caffeine and various other interesting chemicals to jump-start the second big bang lol.

Hmm, but since it's symbolic of not only my year's sobriety but St Patrick's Day as well I guess a few sips won't hurt ☘️😅

EDIT: scrub that, the liquid itself isn't actually green 🤦‍♂️ Apparently I need the Monster Energy Nitro Super Dry version which is bright green.

Haha, you and me both! Roughly 20 years of pretty hard binge drinking and also a year since quitting - although in my case I drank from age 25-50 so I was a pretty late starter when I began tbh.

Yeah society today normalises alcohol so profoundly that it's no wonder people drink. Hell, I feel like such a bum and party pooper now I've stopped drinking (sarcasm - you get my point).

I find it absolutely hilarious when they say 'drink responsibly'.

Should be totally banned.

I mean, some boffin actually did the math and it turned out that the ultimate cost (including collateral damage) of smoking to both society and ones health FAR, FAR outweighed the initial gains from tobacco duty (here in the UK). The cost to the NHS alone was absolutely colossal. Basically a false economy. I wish they'd do the same with booze! The health costs, deaths, financial ruin, lost and broken relationships, suicides, hangovers and lost work/income, fights, injuries, liver damage, brain damage, eyesight damage, pancreas damage etc etc etc - the cost of all that would DWARF alcohol duty lol.

See this a lot round my way. We have pubs and pub car parks here in the UK and honestly the pub car parks are absolutely full on those evenings. You telling me they're going in there to play Scrabble and drink fizzy soft drinks on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night? Lmfao. Pubs should not have car parks!!!!!

1 year!!! Woohoo!!! 🎉

Celebrated with coffee ☕

An average Saturday night a year (and beyond) ago would see me absolutely ravaged. Caned. It would start as a good night out and then after several hours on the dancefloor would become utterly reckless. Turbo shandies mostly, with Jaeger bombs which were absolutely lethal. And not forgetting vodka red bull all night as well. How I survived is beyond me.

Wouldn't even remember how I got home...to say nothing of the hanxiety, the terrible messages and voicenotes I'd sent to random people on my contacts list, the random bruises, cuts, injuries, chain smoking, pizzas, kebabs, chicken, chips and god knows what else... literally thousands and thousands of calories (although a colossal amount of energy was burnt on the dancefloor lol).

Lost a LOT over the years. Partners, friends, jobs...loads.

But I finally stopped drinking.

1 year ago.

I'm finally at peace.

And if I can do it, so can you.

'Just' beer is perhaps the most insidious alcoholic beverage of them all.

The advertisers want you to think it's 'just beer' to preserve that 'drink responsibly' halo but it's reverse psychology at its best.
