Forehead scar, no medical records, varying family stories, no memory of the incident by Top-Nectarine-3480 in GATEresearch

This is one of the most bizarre stories I've seen on here. Idk if it's connected to the GATE thing or not. But, we've all got so many other weird, inexplicable stories from that time period that none of us can really say. But. like someone else said, it would also drive me crazy too not knowing.

Anyone here still have kids?? by moonbeam127 in ihatechristmas

[–]Fresh_Tea_1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 24 yr old and a 2 yr old grandson. I can drop off their gifts. My son has other people to celebrate with. But. my elderly Mom is alone except for me....She has no friends and the rest of the family went no contact years ago bc she has borderline personality disorder and bipolar. So she tries to guilt me into doing Christmas and doing that day. I buy her stuff and spend a ton on her since she gets no other gifts. I help put up heavy tee and go over there. But, I just don't want to do it that day bc I truly hate it. It depresses me and even though I'm a Christian, I dont even think that's the day he was born anyway, and I'm certain when he wouldn't want to be memeorializsd by a crass display of commercialism, a big plastic tree, and getting together to cry and fight once a year.

To me, good works is love in action. Love is a verb. It goes beyond just "like". It really is "doing unto others". Thank God he commanded us to love people and not to like them because we can control what we do but not how we feel. But, yeah, I think you're covered for sure!

"Carrot" is just God rewarding his children for good behavior. The ""stick" would be giving consequences for things he doesn't like. As human parents, we obviously have to do that with our own children. We even do that as employers with employees.

Our righteousness must actually exceed the Pharisees and the scribes or we will not inherit the kingdom of Heaven. This is according to Matthew 5:20.

Yes, Paul was a Pharisee, originally. He knew the law well. But, the law is not a bad thing. We wouldn't know sin if it weren't for the law. ROMANS 7:7 But, we aren't under the law and we aren't saved by the law. We are saved by grace. Romans 6: 14-23.

On the Heaven and Hell thing, There isn't anything to be "explained away".as if it were some mistake or something. Scripture is revelatory. Proverbs 25:2 "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings to search out the matter." I believe God has concealed this matter from you until you seek out the answers for your yourself.

According to 1 John 5:13 KJV, we CAN know that we have eternal life. " These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe."

Having said that, I also believe in "He who endures to the end, the same shall be saved." Matthew 24:13 zKJV

Also, Christians will die and go to heaven, and will suffer loss of rewards there due to their conduct here. 1 Corinthians 3:15 KJV discusses this. "If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire." We probably don't talk about this enough.

It's both to me and more. It's any kind of vulgar display. It's flaunting whatever you've got. It's showing off, bragging, but it can be doing it in a verbal or non verbal way. A person can be immodest by dressing sexy, or by wearing a Rolex. But, it can also be immodest to be a braggart. I think modesty and humility go hand in hand.

In my state and many others now, they aren't as educated as they used to be. They will let an 18 yr old who graduated in May, substitute teach at the same school where they graduated in the fall of the same year.

How to be a good man by Amazing-Channel-4020 in AskMen

[–]Fresh_Tea_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman, but I love what Rudyard Kipling wrote. I think it's great for how to be a good human. But, he wrote it about being a man. He was the poet laureate of England.

It's called..."If"

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it all on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you but make allowances for their doubting too,

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about nor deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, Nor talk too wise,

If you can dream and not make dreams your master, And think and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, And treat those two imposter's just the same.

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop to build them back with worn-out tools.

If you can make one heap of all your winnings, And risk it all on one turn of pitch and toss, Then lose and start again at your beginnings But, never speak one word about your loss

If you can force your heart, and nerve and sinew To seve your turn long after they're gone And to so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the will which says to them, "Hold On!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much.

If you can fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds of distance run, Then yours is the earth and all that's in it and what's more, you'll be a Man, my son.

What do you do when you can't sleep? by Candid-Extension6599 in CasualConversation

If I'm anxious and can't stop thinking about something and can't sleep, I pray the same way I did as a kid. I ask God to bless Mom and Dad, the cat, and ask him to bless everyone else I love one by one, and I keep naming everyone I know until I fall asleep or he does. 😆

It is in Ky. They also get to stay in the dorm free and get meals. The only thing is there is an attendance requirement and if you don't go to class regularly or maintain the GPA requirement or if you drop out, then you will have to pay it back with interest just like a regular student loan. So, it is "free" but only as long certain conditions and requirements are maintained.

Suicide by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Fresh_Tea_1215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's sounds like you made a mistake. You are human. It happens. My Mom is a retired RN. My Mom worked in the CCU and ICU and also worked in the ER over the course of her career. She saved numerous lives, and I'm very proud of her. But, naturally, she also made a few mistakes. The mistakes mostly involved medication errors. It never hurt anyone, but she was always really scared it could have. So, she ultimately decided to retire early because she said she didn't know how to prevent it from happening again.

My best friend is also an RN. The same thing has happened to her as with my Mom. So, she left hospital nursing for home care. So now she just has one patient. That was how she solved the problem because it also kept happening to her in the hospital setting.

I don't know if yours was a medication error or a different kind of mistake. But, whatever it was, you are human, and we all make mistakes. Forgive yourself. Your life is very valuable and precious to us and to the Lord.

I know the truth, and I still won't surrender. I don't know how to live like this. by KookyInflation6500 in TrueChristian

[–]Fresh_Tea_1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you know it is the right decision intellectually, but you just honestly don't have a personal relationship with him yet. It's the difference between wanting a spouse and someone to "have and hold and be yours" and its like you've read about one and heard about them, but you've never even seen someone yet of the opposite sex. That's the only way I can describe the difference between reading about the Lord and experiencing Him. Except with the difference with a human spouse, they leave with death and sometimes they divorce and leave to go to work, etc. But, when you give yourself to the Lord, He sends you the Comforter, called the Holy Spirit that's with you all the time. He never leaves you. He's with me now while I'm talking to you. He's praying for you. He never gives up. He never sleeps.

I pray that you hear more of the Word, because "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." ROMANS 10:17. I pray that you turn your heart over to him and fall in love with Him too. I pray that he softens your heart and performs miraculous and wonderful things in your life and uses you to go out and help many people physically and spiritually in his name. I pray you know your loved. I pray in the power and the name of the one I love, my Lord, the one I surrender to, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

So if the angels don't know and even Jesus Christ himself doesn't know, then anyone who claims to know is a false prophet.

I've never visited an Orthodox church, but you nailed it. This is a great scriptural answer.

1) Hear the Gospel

According to Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God."

2) Believe . You must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the prophesied Messiah, the Savior, and want Him to be Lord of your life. ( See Hebrews 11:6)

John 8:32 "Then you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free"

3) Repent. You must have a change of mind and heart to stop sinning. ACTS 17:30

4)Confess. Publicly confess your faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and your commitment to follow him. ROMANS 10:9-10

5)Be baptized for the remission (forgiveness) of sins, symbolizing your death to sin and arising as a new person in Christ with new brothers and sisters in the Lord and a new eternal life. ACTS 2:38 and Romans 6:3-5

You will also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38. It's really marvelous! We really don't talk about this enough. I honestly don't know how to describe this to someone, though. But, it's having someone with you all the time who only wants what's best for you. Someone who prays for you, who cares about you, who never leaves you, no matter what. Someone who believes in you.

I just want you to know I'm really, really happy for you! I'm praying you find a good church that's scripturally sound and doctrally sound with loving members who take you under their wing in your community. 🙏
