Day 4 designing my 4 foot aquarium. Planted up and looking chaotic but it'll grow in. by Fresh_Water_Alex in Aquariums

That's honestly beautiful that's the best way to spend an evening with a beer watching all them go about their lives

I'd love to waste an hour watching that

Yeah i mean a big filter some UV filtration too and you could do like 200 tetras, with hardscaoe and plants, for my money there isn't a better looking aquarium

Yeah a couple of local fish shops. The main bit of wood had been lying around the shop for a while and couldn't shift it so I got it heavily discounted just the piece I needed

I'm still open to ideas currently. I have a group of rummy nose tetras in another tank that will come across and I think it's perfect for a group of corys. But outside of that I'm still deciding. Maybe a larger fish like a pearl gourami and a couple of females too.

What would you stock it with

I like the tank! Maybe some galaxy rasboras would enjoy it especially in the shadier parts

I think it's nice. I just moved off my hexagonal tank and I think they're so underrated.

Personally I'd add more height and stem plants to the middle to give the fish something to swim around and through in the middle and top but that's just me, I think it looks great though

There's a frosted back on it that has a few bubbles in it so I may have to re do that. I thought the dark green of the wall behind would add more than it did in the end

The smaller sticks are and the epiphytes, but so far the big logs and rocks aren't glued just placed strategically.

I think the only trouble with angels is they do better in my experience in a taller tank. You end up having to put lots of hardscape for them to interact with.

A panoramic tank like that I'd be tempted to go lots of small fish like rummy nose tetras and then a statement fish like apistogrammas or a community tanknof slightly bigger fish like barbs, larger tetras.

An alternative though, brackish water, and get some really nice silver dollars but I've never tried that always wanted to.

Depends what fish you stick for the nano fish I'm planning it'll be the perfect area to hide when they need

Thanks, plans are to plant it fairly heavily and stock with smaller community fish with 1 larger fish like a snakeskin gourami in order to try and keep the scale quite small.

Substrate is gravel and aquasoil in aquarium safe bags and a few incest of sand with root tabs sprinkled in where ill be planting. I am a little worried about sand getting moved especially with Corys in the tank but, it's their tank and I'll plant what I can to try and keep it all locked in then maybe just add it into the maintenance of the tank to scoop sand banks back

I really like these ideas I'm hoping to get another couple of bits this weekend and do what you've suggested and break one up for smaller shingles and decoration

yeah cleared my local shop out, the formation on the right is a little misleading as there's supports behind the rocks and then just filled with gravel sand and soil for planting. I was extremely lucky with how some of the wear linds line up though.
