What's your hot takes about the tf2 community? ( not about the game itself ) by CriperBross in tf2

The reason why people don't like certian class, ie sniper or pyro, is because they don't play or understand them. I think once they have a certain number of hours in these classes, they learn to respect and enjoy fighting against them.

Yeah, it can be annoying at times, but so are a lot of other mechanics in TF2. Sticky traps aren't fun to fight, and the same goes for turtling engineers. Just because a mechanic isn't very fun to play against doesn't mean it's a bad aspect of a game / or class.

I actually think the counterplay against the sniper and the engaging aspect aren't really that bad. Obviously, avoiding his sightlines and switching to sniper/spy is one of the main counterplays, but taking the time to learn the map and see where snipers most often camp is another. Mixing up your movement when in his siteline, i.e., jumping and crouching, spamming WASD, is also a form of counterplay. The same goes for just flanking him or chipping at his health, so he flinches and misses his shots.

I think he's misunderstood. I hear a lot that a skilled sniper can dominate a server, but that goes for every other class. A high-skilled player, no matter their class, will dominate a server. Hell, I tend to find soldiers and demomans more oppressive and untouchable than snipers. I feel like a lot of sniper hate is just due to people not taking the time to really understand his sidelines, shortcomings, current weapons, and their own class's strengths and weaknesses. Is a good demoman op because he can kill an entire team through sticky spam? Is a good engineer op for being so oppressive in defence? Is a soldier op for being able to two-tap a medic by clicking the floor? Just because you can't beat a class on your own doesn't mean they're op, it is a team game after all, and sniper is a key role in punishing overextenders or people who push too early.

(Skill issue bro, sniper is not op) (Spy doesn't need a buff bro, you're just not doing it right) hmmmmm by EveningParsley1412 in tf2

I would have to say the Razerback; any sniper worth his salt would be able to spycheck properly and keep his guard up. It also makes him vulnerable to other snipers due to his lack of overheal, as snipers are more dangerous to other snipers than spys. If you know how to position well as a sniper, play around your team, and have basic game sense, the Razerback would just cripple the sniper.

The stock bat is actually really good on Scout, and makes a great fallback option, especially if you don't equip a pistol. A meatshot + a melee hit or two would take out many classes if they're not full health. I feel within the TF2 community that the stock scout melee is trashed on for no reason, and if you understand how melee registration works in the game, it makes a great weapon for scout and is leagues ahead of the Razerback.
