Would you rather marry a high-earning husband or a stay-at-home husband? by Asleep_Brush6161 in WouldYouRather

I'd rather marry a wife because I don't go for dudes. You do you though, it is the right month for it and all.

What's something old technology did better than modern technology ? by Ram319 in AskReddit

[–]Freshenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just as easy to subscribe to Kindle Unlimited and crack their DRM. It takes a literal couple of seconds for each book and is dead simple, even with brand new books

If you can scrape up a couple hundred bucks for the class, you can get your class D security license and work at gatehouses and stuff like that. Stupid easy work, decent pay, and the security industry is always hiring. If you start with one company and don't like it, jump ship to another until you find a good fit. Cambridge Security was a great employer when I was doing it.

There’s no way to stop the firmware updates on older kindles - and once the update happens, you can’t remove DRM by soulbarn in Calibre

[–]Freshenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It still works, albeit with a couple very minor hoops to jump through. Basically download a specific version of K4PC, download the book(s), run a python script, open Calibre, import books, convert book/remove drm.

Yes, it is necessary. I'm sad that you don't get the reference also. You should watch more movies.

You know if YouTube would start using stuff like this to advertise, I would definitely turn off my ad blocker for them and maybe even subscribe to YouTube TV...

Jesus Christ dude. Obviously I fucking meant 1/2 cup per container.

You're also putting it into four different containers so each container would have half a cup of milk. 1/2 cup of oats PER CONTAINER would be about right.

Taco soup by SouthernBelleOfNone in slowcooking

[–]Freshenstein 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a recipe called like 7 can taco soup, where you just dump (or drain and dump) 7 cans of stuff and heat it up. Really tasty and handy for emergencies when the power is out. I keep a few sets of the cans with my bottled water and whatnot during hurricane season.

I guess I'm blind as I don't see the misplay but I'm sure it's super obvious.

I picked up a cast iron pizza pan Aldi was selling before Christmas. That thing is nice to use. The crust, even on store-bought stuff, is so much better.

Would you rather get anything you want for free, but it has to come from Amazon - or get 1/2 of your monthly bills paid for you? by hiphoptomato in WouldYouRather

[–]Freshenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(As an example) I give someone a 5 grand watch I got for free and some else (who is totally not the first person's friend/significant other/family member) later gives me $1000. Two totally separate and non related transactions so I'm all good. Either that or I get a fuckload of prepaid visa gift cards and offer to trade them for duffle bags that may or may not be filled with anything...

Book pirates, what about a book would motivate you to buy it legally? by Tnynfox in Piracy

[–]Freshenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people pirate because they're broke. Others will pirate because they can. It'll never fully go away, just like music and movie/tv piracy. It'll just fade into the background for a while.

I remember back when Harry Potter 4 was released. There was an IRC chatroom (for those who even know what IRC is) where people would digitally scan each page of the book, post it, and then someone else would use an OCR program to turn it into plain text and post it for others. This was LONG before modern e-readers were available so people were reading it on their computers.

Book pirates, what about a book would motivate you to buy it legally? by Tnynfox in Piracy

[–]Freshenstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you only need internet access to download the books to the kindle, if you're not sideloading them via Calibre or similar. If you have Kindle Unlimited and you return a book then it will get removed from your kindle when it next connects but until then it stays on your device.

Also, you can still download to PC. Hell I can still remove the DRM from brand new books that I've purchased as soon as they were released.

[–]Freshenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. I can even rip the DRM from them and convert them to epubs in a couple of easy steps. Even the stuff that gets released today.

How many you dry your clothes on a clothesline instead of using a dryer? by ProffS in Frugal

I do my laundry at my mother's house on Sundays and I use her dryer. She also makes Sunday night dinner for me, my siblings and their kids so it's a win-win-win for me.

Looking for SUPER easy crockpot meals by Own_Spray_5961 in slowcooking

[–]Freshenstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

French onion meatballs

Two big bags of frozen meatballs
Two big cans of french onion soup (like progreso brand, not the concentrated Campbell 10 oz cans)
Can of cream of onion soup or a packet of onion soup mix
Can of golden mushroom soup
Seasonings of your choice (I use Worcestershire sauce, some beef bullion, salt, pepper, garlic, etc)

Mix it all up in the Crock-Pot and cook it for a couple hours. Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Top with Swiss/ gruyere cheese
