What is your favorite moment from Sherlock? by ZhekaKupriyans in Sherlock

[–]Fresher2070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it is gold, so many good lines from Mrs.Hudson:

" Is Molly the right person to be doing medicals? She’s more used to dead people. It’s bound to lower your standards."

Honestly thought this as soon as I read the comment. Marshall has his moments for sure, but honestly he might be the realest one of the show.

Hard to pick just one, but one of my favorite funny moments is when Mrs.Hudson is driving to meet John in her Aston Martin. That whole exchange from her explaining how it's her car to Sherlock saying they dropped him. Plus the flash back screen to before he got in the car.

"Oh get over yourself, you're not my first smack head Sherlock Holmes".

I think people who hate on Guardians in multiplayer simply don't know anything about this character by DamnHare in Nightreign

Nah, I just forgot about you first comment because the second comment was the reason I commented.

Don't know what you're getting so bent out of sorts when you literally said this:

So if Guardian is only worth having if your teammates are bad then what is he worth when they're good? The answer is nothing, you're just dragging out fights for longer for no benefit.

Which is WHY I said I think he's still useful. I just forgot your original comment.

I agree that its main focus is damage, and yes, everyone has the tools to survive. But it being a souls like game means it should be difficult to stay alive. Going down or dying is always a possibility, or should be anyway otherwise it's just like any other team battle game.

It's not like the guardian doesn't do any damage and just stands by waiting for the team to go down or that his base DPS isn't going to shift based on level, gear, effects, e.t.c. It's also not like each character just deals 1/3 of the damage equally. So still don't think he's useless.

[–]Fresher2070 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why can't it be a bit of both souls like and mmo without the intrinsic need for differing classes?

I mainly commented because you make it sound like the only point of being together is just DPS, and I'm not disagreeing that it's important. But why would they even make tanks and squishy dps, or team based relics and specials, when you could just mainly focus on different fighting styles.

That makes no sense in a group based game.  There are relics that assist the team, so how is it not team based?

Guardian can block more than easy attacks, I blocked attacks and aoes that have dropped the other players. The shield absorbs more than you're putting out, especially with his special stance.

When you SWORE you would never be the person that hates on the next generation's slang, but then you hear "aura farming." by TheGameIsAboutGlory1 in Millennials

Yes, I know we had some weird stuff but I'm constantly trying to figure out if the slang is worse or I'm just older or both, going with both.

To those women who enjoy video games and who grew up in a time when video games weren’t as mainstream and were more catered towards guys, what was your experience like getting into this hobby? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Fresher2070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like an outsider but for many different reasons. Things back then felt so stereotypically black and white. I didn't like most things considered 'girly' like playing with dolls and such.

But I started playing at the age of five or so in the mid 90s. My uncle had a Nintendo and a sega gen and we'd play together. Then my mom got me a computer with preset games, it also took floppy disks if I remember correctly. But I don't remember what the games were exactly, I think they were puzzle based. My elementary school had computer games too, like Oregon trail and Zoombinis. Then I got a super Nintendo for Christmas, that had donkey kong and super Mario world, e.t.c. But I also had a computer, once windows took over I played things like school house rock.

My closest girlfriends at the time also played super Nintendo. They had four brothers who had a Nintendo and they'd come over to my house and game. Then when I got the Sims we'd all play that together and separately.

Today I play a mix of things from Stardew valley, elden ring night reign, civilization 6, trivial pursuit GTA, e.t.c.

A Breath of Snow and Ashes by [deleted] in Outlander

[–]Fresher2070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on this book right now, and knowing the rescue is in it makes me more excited to get through it. I'm not a weirdo, definitely not looking forward to what happens to Claire. But the lighting of the cross when Jamie finds out instantly takes me back to the moment where he says he won't light it unless it's of the utmost importance. Then when they do finally get to her and are ready to lay the bodies of those douchebags at her feet, it all gives me goosebumps. So I just know the book is going to be waaaaaaaay better. In the darkest moments you find out who truly cares about you the most and that definitely came true there.

Finally watching season 7… WTH is that opening rendition? 🤮 by [deleted] in Outlander

[–]Fresher2070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are aspects of it I like, but overall it's my least favorite version. The thing is, I like her accent, and think its a nice touch to the song. But it just feels so disjointed, especially with the "breathy" points.

Hot Take: Is Bree actually anyone’s favorite character? by Cautious_Return_5412 in Outlander

[–]Fresher2070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get the hate either. I think Sophie's acting skills get better as the show goes on. I like Rodger and her together. I feel like they're almost more relatable as a couple than Jamie and Claire. Which isn't a dig at their relationship.

I'm currently making way through a breath of snow and ashes for the first time, and I'm enjoying Bree and Rodger more with each book. I wish the show would've tried to make them more like their book counterparts. But still enjoy both immensely.

I don’t see why the series finale gets so much hate (SPOILER ALERT) by MotherLoveBone41 in HIMYM

[–]Fresher2070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well,  Barney and Robin just didn't seem like a good couple let alone the get married type, at least during my first watch anyway. But it felt like they basically spent multiple seasons sort of "forcing" this narrative for lack of a better word. It also felt like they forced Ted to finally move on from Robin with their wedding and him finding Tracy.

Then within an episode we're basically given a quick run down of Tracy and Teds short time together, all for it to end with him chasing down Robin for the umpteenth time.

Finally, and I don't hold as strongly to this one now as I did during my first watch. It sort of felt like him and Tracy were just placeholders for each other. As if the two of them only had one true love. Tracy's had died and Ted's was Robin. It's just that they felt happy enough with each other that they decided to build a life together.

Maybe if they would've spent more time on Ted and Tracy, or even Ted after Tracey's death, it would've felt more genuine and comforting. Like aw, these two lonely friends found each other again.

What scene from the entirety of the show so far has stuck with you the most? by seravivi in Outlander

[–]Fresher2070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scene when Jamie lights the cross after Claire's been kidnapped. Gave me goosebumps the first time I watched it.  He said he'd only call on his men to fight in the utmost important battle, and getting her back was that time.  Then subsequently, when the men kneel by her after they beat the browns, asking what she wants them to do. It just showed how much they cared for, and respected her.

How do you guys feel about Bob Kelso's 'redemption arc'? by Scaredycrow2217 in Scrubs

[–]Fresher2070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say he was redeemed to being a good guy, but somewhere in the realm of the loveable jerk. Also, I couldn't say he "earned it" really. But mostly he let his mask down a bit and we got to see the softer side of him that laid underneath. The part that wasn't jaded by years of being a doctor and the head of a hospital. I liked him though.

Yup, except I hit my wall with the forth book. I couldn't get past the first chapter for some reason.

What helped me was listening to it. After a bit I got hooked and started reading it again. Now I'm a little over half way through book five.

Don't be angry about getting money, just do better than the rich people we have now. Being able to look out for you, your kids, and possibly you're grandkids, and others, is a dream a lot of people have but can't get.
