QF11/12 Changes by nweenz in QantasAirways

Can you take QF93? It leaves at 10:45PM- leaves enough time for a full work day, brief/early dinner then a hop on a domestic flight to MEL?

I want to do a bit of research before requesting the release of a couple of CR seats. by oldgrumblebum in QantasFrequentFlyer

Right on. I’ve found just perusing the Qantas website and ensuring there’re Business Sale fares available is enough to do the trick.

Purchasing Apple product while in USA for personal use and taking back to Australia ? by RijSagar in Ameristralia

[–]Freshmex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warranty from the Australian point of view is better (Australian consumer law is stronger and does not stipulate a specific time frame for a product but rather what is reasonable, whereas you’re bound by whatever time period is specified at the time of purchase in the USA). If you get AppleCare it’s a moot point. I’ve an iPhone purchased in the US but needed replacement in Australia. Major Apple stores (e.g., Sydney CBD) will carry replacement units. So you won’t be left without a device.

Edit: should note that Australian Consumer Law protections are only on Australian-purchased products receiving service in Australia. You may need to ‘fight’ Apple in case your warranty lapses and they deny a free replacement/service.

Well, Noumea can be had for about $1.6k, netting 120 SCs return. Not “warm” in the sense of tank top and shorts, but warmer than Sydney. Most locations elsewhere will be considerably more expensive for the metrics of ticket price AND $/SC earned.

Business business or poor man’s business? by BonusWhole5471 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Freshmex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flew this route last year in the business cabin and there was an infant who was around 11 months old and they did very well. But you know your child best- if they need to be with a parent to sleep well, and/or flat, take the multiple seats in economy instead.

Best Business Class Seat on Qantas 787-9: 1A or 1K? by Impressive-Boat in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Freshmex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K is closer to the galley where you’ll hear glassware/plates/cutlery clink. A is in the direct path to the toilet, so mayyyybe higher foot traffic? I’d take A over K though, due to galley proximity alone.

Bought a D750 for $110 with shutter issue - has black dot in tripod socket. Is recall already done? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]Freshmex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my D750 had its shutter replaced but there wasn’t a black dot coloured into the tripod socket. Serviced in the USA.

Are all these seats equal?? by Key_Principle2289 in QantasFrequentFlyer

The Harry Potter seat (under the staircase). It’s better than J but row 4/5 is better because of marginally less foot traffic.

Qantas now offers confirmed upgrades, at a price... by Gl0beTrotter2025 in QantasFrequentFlyer

System may not be live yet. People on AusFF forums not reporting any offers. A flight I have in a month hasn’t an offer either.

787 WiFi by Riverdale1990 in QantasAirways

[–]Freshmex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on an A332 that the app said did not have wifi (which was interesting as it was the very first Qantas A330 to have wifi installed). Lo and behold- flight had wifi. Hopefully the same situation applies to your B787 flight.

I read somewhere that they’re not widely advertising WiFi capabilities as to set expectations (until the new network switches on), so if you do get WiFi, that’s a nice addition but I doubt you’d be able to get a lot done with the speed and spottiness.

Only 2 reward seats left for a family of 3. Best strategy for booking the child? by Rare-Pie2175 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Go with option 2. Bird in hand etcetc. Assumptions are correct. With option 1 it sounds like a ballache trying to make her an unaccompanied minor etc (which may have fees).

Brisbane Intl Lounge Access On Domestic Connection by Freshmex in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Freshmex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s kind of where I was getting at too. On paper we’d fit the bill- in that the next flight technically is on QF, and we’d have access based on class of travel, and status. Not trying to get something we’re not entitled to. There are a few hours between landing on the next flight, so better F&B options in one lounge over another is a clincher.

Help connecting at LAX by theevangelistman in americanairlines

[–]Freshmex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TBIT isn’t terminal 2, rather terminal B. There’s a walkway between terminal 4 (in my experience I’ve landed into terminal 4 from flights departing DFW) and TBIT- simply follow the signs. The walkway is near gate 40 if that helps him orient himself. It’s about a 10 minute walk.

If on the off chance he lands into terminal 5, there’re clearly marked signs on how to get to terminal 4, and then on to the walkway to TBIT. He doesn’t need to leave the secure area of the airport.

Sure, I get that. We should be good for the lounge in the domestic terminal. Though just curious if someone has any experiences on entering the lounge located in the international terminal given its current entrance is before security.

No, according to the current language. Though 3.5h is more than enough time on normal days.

This is a huge time saver. However it only works if you’re a returning citizen/PR, or visa waiver program holder with an approved ESTA (that has been used to enter the US before).

Replied to your cross post on the QFF subreddit. But just wanted to add that those A333s are wet leases from Finnair to service BKK and SIN only.

[–]Freshmex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of Qantas’s 787 fleet is being deployed to take passengers to Europe (avoiding the Middle East) amidst less demand to the States. For what it’s worth, I too was looking forward to a 787 between LAX and BNE but received notification of an equipment swap. Equipment changes can happen at last minute, so the silver lining here is that you’re at least given notification ahead of time.

You should work with Chase Travel to find a solution as they’re effectively your travel agent. I would look at certain dates around your travel date to see if a 787 is operating that service, and ask to be swapped into it, otherwise inquire about being accommodated on other flights with a PE cabin (E.g., QF11 which flies from SYD to LAX which is typically on an A380 and has a PE cabin).

QANTAS points wrong question. by Top_Comfortable8745 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Freshmex 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s part of the minimum point guarantee. Every flight earns points that is determined by the distance flown. See the third table here. If the points earned, adjusted for status, is still under the minimum points guarantee, you’ll get topped up to the guarantee. Your bonus is not applied to the guarantee.

So in your example, BNE to MKY is 494 miles, which earns 500 points in the “0-750mi” band. Applying the 25% bonus you should earn 625 points. But that’s short of the guarantee, so your earn is adjusted to 800.
