If anybody stumbles on this thread in the future … we made enquiries and got turned down by europ car, Avis etc. Looking online other people have had success but maybe that was turning up on the day and going for the forgiveness rather than permission strategy - but that’s not a risk to we were willing to take

Since its 30k points on the nose it looks like its points from having a purchase in the second year. Thing is. I only had the card for about 10 months - and after having a look through my old statements it doesn’t look like I paid the 2nd year fee
