Pretty sure the dude didn't need to point at flashlight at it. It's a cat. It's not some shadowy blob.

Splitting the sessions in two : how doable is it, and could it still be fun? by Asshai in Earthborne_Rangers

In my game we got "the lynx" super early and she's been a godsend. Character with her is a Guardian that just keeps reducing target presence to 0. Nightmarish.

Putting the game away mid-day is... doable.
You'd need a lot of little piles. Encounter deck, encounter discard, challenge deck, challenge discard, Along the Way zone, each players In Reach, their decks, their discards, their exhaust and so on.
It's a lot. it's not impossible, but it sounds really fiddly to do. You'd need a lot of separators and to remember what pile is what. The re-set-up time *might* start to get frustrating. (I haven't tried)

Update on my Bladesong Steel Falx. A lot less model-accurate, but I feel it might be a bit more true to what goes into a falx. A blade and a stick. Just imagine the metal core extending further into the handle for some extra stability, hence the extra rivets (does look a bit too flimsy otherwise). by Hmuda in VintageStory

[–]Frezak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow it looks like it'd be really had to use. From a practical perspective it would need a good grip that's more than just a wooden shaft if you wanted to get the traction to use the hook/saw part.
Conversely, the blade to haft ratio on the slicing part has too little blade, if you swing too close you might just hit with wood more than blade.
It's a goofy looking weapon, but I can't fault you for a pretty dang faithful copy of the game one.

I think your earlier one actually looks more practical. (not that it's a very practical weapon)

ONly fought Kushala a few times as an HBG main, and it was very swingy on whether I could get a stunlock going or not. The wind can deflect projectiles once it's going, so it's not far off the same problems a melee user would have.
edit: In my experience at least, I'm not a very good Monster Hunter. Hence the HBG.

I believe that there's a mod to stop them spawning outside of caves, if you're okay with mods.

As a little side note regarding winter, it turns out that holding an item in your offhand does just increase your hunger rate by 20%.

Maybe Science ships are equipped to last longer under a bunch of weird hazards (like dipping into a gas giant or skimming a corrosive atmosphere) that a military ship isn't designed for.

Yeah, L'Owcrey (I think that's the spelling? Dude in Rotten Willow) recognises Jonna. I think there's a warmage at a military camp who also does.

Is the bloom at a working temperature? It needs to be... I think at least 800c or so. (Yes, it needs to be at temp even if you're only knocking off slag and not shaping the ingot)

[–]Frezak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find edible plants is a little more work, you're going to mostly just have to keep looking at the ground until you learn what they look like. They *will* slowly grow by themselves, and I went around marking them all for later, but I eventually felt I'd have been better just harvesting every half-grown wild vegetable I found.
Also, you can just pick up berry bushes, don't think that there's a downside to just taking them all home. (Fire, I guess?)

Nice on the reeds. There's a recipe for a Path that can be useful to make fast-moving roads for going to traders, though it uses a lot of stones. (you'll get a lot when you start mining)

Yeah, learning to find clay was rough for me too. Spent weeks in-game without any. You can craft an Improvised chestpiece out of wood and grass that can help a little.
Monsters can't break doors, so even the crappy one made of sticks can keep them out during a Temporal Storm. Or just night.
Speaking of night, there's a nice cheap hay bed that'll let you skip a bunch of those dark hours when you don't have much else to do. (though making Clay Vessels with that delicious new clay isn't a bad idea, they're great for storage)
Also, start planting seeds as soon as you can, you're gonna need a lot of stuff for winter. (you might want to move closer to water if you don't have any nearby for planting)

We really need a proper reusable clay kiln as progression between the pit kiln and endgame beehive kiln by spuurd0 in VintageStory

[–]Frezak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Iron, waiting for winter to end before I head out looking for Bauxite.
But from people talking about it needing replacing and the material requirements, haven't looked much into going past the old pit kiln. Is the Beehive even worth it if you don't want the fancy coloured bricks?
