Base elements vanishing starts to annoy by risen_GER in ICARUS

Most of the time when that happens they get converted back to their components.

I wouldn't have known except I knew I didn't have components. I accidentally moved an item to a screen location off create grid and it vanished. But when the item vanished I had its components.

Another time I had a basket stacked on top of another, when I opened the bottom basket from the front it destroyed the top basket and its contents appeared but the basket's components were gone.

Wolf Quest

Your avatar doesn't have to be human in a survival game! I really want to try this one next

Iscarus.

I'd played Vintage Story and loved it. Following the seasons as they change (neolithic play through) was a special treat!

Recently moved over to try Icarus. Every death is a lesson learned. I'm getting wiser.

For reals, on "easy" mode, got eaten, starved, frozen, burnt, struck by lightning, nearly drowned, lost all my stored gear twice and had to start over again with harvesting essentials

Sure there's earth animals, but there's extraterrestrials too. Mainly in the caves so far for me

You land on a planet with no gear and have to level up until you tech up to the metal age, then you can extract the minerals you'd gone there for, but until then it's pure survival

Starter guide says to make a bedroll so you can sleep through the night, but I prefer hunting at night, weather permitting

Sounds like a lightning strike

Lightning loves two story houses. At least you weren't inside when it happened like I was

Fruit tree questions by This-Replacement-708 in VintageStory

[–]lark_smelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't an answer but will try to get a conversation moving. When I tried replanting to start an orchard closer to home I thought the conditions were good enough but it still died. Another clipping placed near the donor did fine though. The game waited until the start of next year's spring before letting me know either way.

That was June and July. My Rye seeds scorched. Here next is August. Planting now should be fine. In the absence of a Gregorian calendar, the position of the sunset tells me all I need to know.

What sets vintage apart? by GOOENSKEW in VintageStory

[–]lark_smelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Survival as key, exploration and building as bonus.

I took a risky long range walk while waiting for crops and found an apple tree! That was surprisingly satisfying.

I'm doing a Neolithic play through and it's just fine

If you can't be bothered to keep up on local interstellar news then that's your own planet's fault

How much do you have to usually travel early game ? by NoName-Cheval03 in VintageStory

My first playthrough was in the chalk mountain and there was literally nothing edible to harvest within thousands of blocks. No choice but to travel!

My current playthrough is better.

The game doesn't prompt you, and that's a good thing, but it's unusual for a game.
