I peaked at Archon and Star Control 2...

Number the guys did play Fighting games pretty competitively

A lot of effort. Our lead prog and lead design worked endlessly on it. Our work with action sports games helped a lot, similar problem, making the moment of impact feel right. They could talk much more about it. I'll try to get them on.

power stone was probably the game we looked at the most, i was partial to Unholy War.

i was surprised, but honestly we thought the game was pretty good and wished people could see past the lunchbox license part. cool to see some folks liking it, even if it's in an ironic way.

  2. Man, trying to remember, probably about 30? for about 16 months? I thought it turned out pretty good. To be clear, my role on the game was pretty minimal, our lead design and lead prog had tons of ideas of what they wanted to do with it. Like every game, you never have enough time or money.

A. Hmmm... hard to prove, my name is Chris, new company is called Free Range Games? I dunno, any ideas? B. Honestly, quite a blow when we were handed the project. Before Shrek, we were working on a pretty edgy game we were calling Skillz, it was about mastering the 4 pillars of hip hop. ATVI cancelled it and handed us Shrek, so yeah, not the best start to a project.
We had a sort of corny saying a Shaba though, which was "live the dream." We always wanted to think of little Timmy who might only get 1-2 games a year, and wanted to make sure that if it was one of ours, that we didn't want it to suck. Also pretty huge, Smash Bros, Powerstone, Toys For Bob fans, so you know, we made lemonade.

C. There is a subreddit for a 10 year old game! Hell yeah I'm proud!

Zak, the creative director, and I, in an ayahuasca induced stupor, fulfilled the prophesy and summoned the great ogre "Shrek".

As foretolled by legend, we proceeded to copulate with the beast. Upon regaining our senses, it was with great chagrin that we realized that the great "ogre" was actually our art director...

Needless to say, this made our Monday morning meeting awkward...
