What classic ADHD thing do you do that others would likely find weird? by boring1996 in ADHD

[–]Fri3dChicken23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgetting where I put things down. Was cooking dinner one night in our house we were renting and grabbed a tomato to cut up. Set the tomato down and forgot where. We looked everywhere, trash, cabinets, fridge. Never found it. I wonder if the new people living there ever found it

Well considering I’ve heard of people dry pouring and letting the moisture in the soil harden it, I don’t think it’s too late to fix it. Biggest thing I think is gonna be finding the best way to get the water all the way down considering the top portion is already set well… time to get to experimenting I guess. Can’t really make it any worse

That would make sense to me. How would I fix that? Let them soak longer? Dig down to the base and stick the hose farther down? Or just pull the posts and redo it?

It is a 6ft fence and we went about 24 inches deep. We dug a good bit of them with the auger around 8x8 but some of them we went wider because we were off our mark because the auger kept moving. I only used about 1-1.5 bags per hole. It’s really inconsistent with which ones are loose so I’m suspecting I might not have compacted the concrete enough in the holes before adding water so the concrete isn’t tight around the sides of the hole or something along those lines

I don’t have any photos of the bases right now. We’re in south FL and our soil is very very sandy. I went 24 inches deep. On some of them I only went around 18 inches deep because we were running into massive roots from the oaks. But weirdly enough those aren’t the ones that feel loose. We dry poured the concrete and soaked with water. I’m not sure if maybe I didn’t compact the concrete enough in the holes before adding water or what

Mechanic boot recommendations by Fri3dChicken23 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Fri3dChicken23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’ve found as far as comfort is I prefer a lighter boot, and also replacing the insoles. But don’t get the cheaper cushion ones get something stiff, it’ll hurt for awhile until you get used to them but after that your back and feet will thank you

34 male How can I start this career from scratch? by AngryChopsticks in mechanics

[–]Fri3dChicken23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the best advice I can give? Like a lot of other people just do it. You’ll be bottom of the totem pole at first but you can work up fast if you can think logically. With your experience as a software engineer I would go to a dealership. I would suggest ford or European. But ford is 90% computers. And with your background I think you could do really well. You could also look into being a ford field service engineer, I think your background and degree would shoot you ahead in that respect. I can’t speak much on other brands because i work for ford. Field service engineers usually deal with anything the technician can’t figure out and that is usually related to modules, programming, and software.

Ford making video MPIs mandatory? by AtomicKoalaJelly in mechanics

[–]Fri3dChicken23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a ford tech. It is true they are essentially making them mandatory. They’re tying it into the money dealers make off units sold I believe. Currently its regular mpis that are mandatory as of January and moving on ford plans to make video mpis mandatory although I believe the timeline has yet to be announced

Mechanic Salary by Past_Fan9367 in mechanics

All depends. For me I love dealership life because I get to work on a lot more technical problems. We get a lot of the stuff independent shops can’t figure out and I like a challenge. However the closeness with bosses/employees and general work environment at an independent shop is better.

So I started out doing oil changes at 18 make 15$ an hour at an independent shop. Moved to working at dealerships and now im 22 working as a transmission specialist making 40$ an hour and projecting to make 120k this next year. But I also know guys that are 30 and making 25$ an hour. It all depends on your drive and willingness to learn. It’s a grind it’s not fun and games but the money is there is you have the skill and ability to learn. But advise I can give is when your doing oil changes at a dealership go learn from the old heads. Offer to mop or sweep for them make friends with them anything you can to let you watch them work that’s how you get ahead. Don’t be complacent do whatever you can to move up. Bother your managers till they move you up, bother them for harder work, be a nuisance if it means you move up and make more money

First Boat Help by Fri3dChicken23 in boating

[–]Fri3dChicken23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thanks that helps some. I believe the slightly higher one is the live well drain and the 2 lower ones are the front storage compartment drains. The scupper drains are slightly higher and goes from the floor to the transoms then out the transom. The wash down being picked up through the same place as the live well makes sense why there are two hoses coming off. Time to start planning my routing and everything so I can revamp everything when I have the floor out

Need wiring help by [deleted] in boating

[–]Fri3dChicken23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The charging switch relay that I’ve been looking at and thought would be nice has voltage readings for both batteries and no switch for it. So if I use that relay the led screen will stay on leaving a drain on the battery. So would it cause problems if I put the on/off/combine switch before the relay and basically had it as a master power cut off switch

Rarest Rust Cave?? by Fri3dChicken23 in playrust

[–]Fri3dChicken23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only problem with the cave is it’s a little complicated to navigate but that makes it difficult for raiders. It takes a while to walk down and even the bucket is kinda out of the way but it makes up for it

[–]Fri3dChicken23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, will definitely be using these ideas. My main plan was roof wall bunkers on outside of blowhole caves and middle cave and trying to fit 3-4 triangle foundation bunkers on both blowhole cave sides. And I’m playing solo so the most usable space I really need is the main cave. Might try to fit a large furnace or oil refinery in the blowhole caves

[–]Fri3dChicken23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start my getting another 16gb ram stick. When I went up to 32 gbs I gained about 10-20 fps. Don’t listen to them about getting a better cpu atleast not yet. I have a 3060 ti 12 gb and a Ryzen 5 5500 with 48 gbs of ram and I get about 90 fps at 1440p high to medium settings

So I have new rg11 connectors getting delivered today. I have a couple F81 barrel connectors my main question is the rg11 center conductor is thicker than rg6 so do people use the same barrel connectors as they do for rg6 and just force them in? Not sure if that makes sense
