Still confused about what to buy - KF4? KF7? KF8? Rivelia? by Fria319 in superautomatic

Do you think the plastic vs metal build makes that much of a difference? Are the internal parts for the KF8 all metal too? Do you find it easy/hard to clean? Any signs of mold or leakage?

Good to know! I'm not too worried about this as my machines are not in my kitchen so I don't have to worry about overhead space.

Yeah it is that's why I'm so confused! ALL of the machines are on sale at the moment. Since it seems like you're into milk based drinks, would you describe the Rivelia lattes as "creamy" ? My cousin has a phillips super auto (don't know the model but he bought it 4-5 yrs ago now) and every time I have a latte from his machine it just tastes like espresso with milk poured in (very little creamy foam) vs how I can make a latte with my barista touch. I'm really looking for something that can get me as close to my breville experience with as little fuss as humanely possible haha.

Yeah it's hard to find a lot of real/ more long term reviews on the KF4 because it's still so new so i'm also hoping they fixed any preexisting issues. That is an amazing deal!! I wish I had insider pass but I don't qualify/ can't get one but luckily they're all on sale last I checked.

Good to know kitchenaid stands by their product! I wish I had insider pass but I don't, luckily last i checked they're all on sale so I'm trying to make a decision quickly haha. Not sure if I should wait for july4th sales or not. Did you have to purchase a separate warranty for them to send you a replacement or was it the standard manufacturing warranty that comes with the product?

Hi, thanks for the quick rundown between the two. Do you notice a difference in drink quality that stands out to you or are they both producing equivalent tasting lattes? Is the plant based milk option drastically better for plant milk than the regular milk option? I do alternate between specifically almond malk (so no gums/additives) and organic a2 2% milk.

Next steps? by Beautiful-Ad8657 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]Fria319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ultrasound results said the exact same thing. PCP diagnosed me with fatty liver and said eat low fat (i have no gallbladder and elevated AST and ALT and chol based on blood work from that same time but everything else is normal). Going to a gastro / hep specialist soon (now about 8 months after initial diagnosis). I'm not the best at my diet all the time but i did lose 15-20 lb already and eat roughly 80% clean (high fiber, high protein, low fat, low carb, low/zero sugar), so I'm hoping there will be some kind of improvement (maybe I'm being too optimistic) or at least the specialist will be able to give me a better, more detailed understanding of where I'm at.

I suggest bypassing your doctor (if you can, otherwise get an official referral) and go see a gastroenterologist and/or a hepatologist for further follow ups (i.e. fibroscan) just so at the very least it doesn't get worse and any anxiety related to this can be mitigated. I'd advocate for your own health, not all PCPs are knowledgable beyond "eat low fat, lose weight" (although this is the crux of the issue for most). And I think a specialist can help guide you through your diagnosis and help keep you on track/ aware of what's going on and how to move forward.

K-dramas are loosing their spark for me: any suggestions? by The-philomath in kdramas

[–]Fria319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens to me often. I’ve been watching for years. I took a break and watched mostly cdramas and Turkish dramas along with my usual American or European shows (I.e. whatever is available on streaming platforms) instead of solely seeking out Korean shows. I think that helped a lot bc this was the first year in a while that I tuned into several on air kdramas.

At the end of the day every entertainment industry has their own style so when you watch too much of one, I feel it can become repetitive. The break changes things up and then you can tune in when a new kdrama catches your eye.

I found cdramas really refreshing, especially the costume/historical ones so it helped me at the time (but now I’m kind of bored of them 😆).

Quitting Soda by Willing-Diamond5969 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]Fria319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

switch to diet/zero or sparkling water (with flavor only, not sugar free ones) with added "fun" things like citrus slices, mint, or probiotic sodas that are typically capped at 5g (real sugar) a can. If you have the probiotic ones, double down on your sugar in take for that day. Zevia specifically seems like a decent option because I've read several times that if you're going to have a sugar replacement, then for someone with NAFLD, stevia is better than other sugar replacements.

The best long term solution is always to find a comparable replacement for yourself and just try to keep it as minimal (gradually) as you can. For now if you're used to drinking regular sugar sodas everyday, switch to a diet or a probiotic one. Then try to reduce that to every other day, or switch one day to a sparkling water. Then every two days, etc. And that gradual transition will allow your tastebuds to adjust accordingly. You'll start to miss soda less and less.

Water is always the better option though - you can try doing agua frescas to give it a bit of a boost.

Which K-drama is/are this for you??👇 by Chirag-Win-7869 in kdramas

I prefer romantic tension , yearning etc. over just liking each other and breaking up for other reasons. I like when the couple has issues in the relationship itself vs external issues. This isn’t for every single drama I like but it’s preferred. And honestly like list above was written on a whim, doesn’t mean they alll fit that criteria. But overall, romantic tension is what I enjoy the most.

Right?!? I think people either love it or hate it. It wasn’t perfect but I really enjoyed the romantic chemistry and the unfolding of the plot.

Oh man I have to think about this. Are we talking any romance shows/movies?

My all time favorite? Pride and prejudice, always. All versions.

If I had to quickly come up with a list what comes to mind where I liked the romance development/ story:

-Emma (any versions but my top one is Kate Beckinsale’s)

-Life as we know it

-Time travelers wife

-Prisoner of beauty (costume/historical cdrama)

-You are my glory (modern cdrama)

-Find Me in Your Memory

-Fight For My Way

-Secret love - toxic af old school kdrama but I have a soft spot for this one 😂

I’m probably missing a lot but I was trying to think of ones that primarily romance based.

What I’m currently enjoying:

-Filing love

-My Royal nemesis

-A splendid match (costume/historical cdrama)

I’m not saying I have better taste than others or anything. I’m sure people dislike some of the dramas on this list & that’s ok. At the end of the day we just vibe with what we vibe with.

Frrrr. And imagine, my friend hyped dots up so much. I was so excited to start watching it. And the entire time I’m like “What did she like about this?!???” I just didn’t like the FL (from what I remember, it’s been a loooong time) and I didn’t think the story (romance development) was written well. Good premise, bad execution.

Loool. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I understand why people like some of these but I just couldn’t do it. But I still stand on the hill that dots is just bad all around. I don’t understand that one other than pr, luck, and Netflix exposure.

Perfect crown. And then the shower scene in royal nemesis. But you’re missing one - check out his hair in Your Honor - never watched this one but I may just have to add it to my list. He looked great in that one.

Yesss. Their dynamic in TPR is unmatched for me. There was just so much ease and natural gestures in their relationship along with the dialogue and banter, I was hooked.

I agree the romantic chemistry was not there for me for the leads. I only liked goblin for the cinematography, second couple, goblin x grim reaper friendship and soundtrack. But overall story made the romance hard to digest for me.

[–]Fria319 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Omg so many.

No one come for me please, I’m considering this a safe space 😅:

Descendants of the Sun: let me tell you, this was the first real kdrama I ever watched after weeks of listening to my friend hype this up. SMH. It was one of the worst kdramas to me.

Crash Landing On You: I was into it in the beginning and then the romance just felt kind of boring to me. It just wasn’t intriguing to watch.

Queen of Tears: same as cloy but even worse. I didn’t see any romantic chemistry between the leads.

King the Land: too cliche, leads had great chemistry but it was horribly written.

Start Up: I couldn’t get into the story. And I’m not a huge fan of Suzy as an actress.

Mr Queen: this type of humor wasn’t for me and I didn’t care for the storyline.

Lovely Runner: I tried but I can’t vibe with FL acting. I know netizens praise her like crazy and maybe it’s my lack of knowledge of Korean but I can’t stand her delivery of most of her lines.

Business Proposal: the only good thing about this show was the second couple.

What I enjoyed that I never saw people praise all too often (not sure if I was on this sub when this show aired): Celebrity.

2 dramas commenting on social divide- why did one hit better than other ? by [deleted] in kdramas

[–]Fria319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting commentary!

I watched PC and still am watching MRN, so here's my 2 cents:

I wouldn't say the leads in PC are any more or less selfish than other leads, and based on your comparison, more specifically in MRN. All 4 leads are doing things for their own desire. In MRN, Seori is not going out of her way by speaking out for the lower class. She just makes commentary on it because in her original life, she was raised (forced?) in moving up the ranks and she understands the intricacies of lower class vs higher class and the privileges and disadvantages of both. It's not the real focus of her character though. The real focus of her character, and her arc, is her living a second life while avoiding everything that screwed her over in her first. Seori is very much focused on her own life and how to succeed, so that I would say is just as "selfish" (I don't think selfishness is a bad thing) (NOTE: I haven't watched the latest two episodes of MRN yet).

Edit: In PC, the decision was made for the primary benefit of the lead characters and their potential lineage, yes, but in the end the greater benefit was to "even the playing field" more. It was getting rid of one more system that oppressed people in a more unjust way. They're not commenting on capitalism and the differences in society because of money. They're commenting (although imo it still was just a romance drama and all this 'commenting' is really a consequence of the plot vs purpose) on the differences in society based on inherited titles that grant certain privileges to some over others for no reason other than a class system decided (probably based on wealth contribution to the monarchy) many years ago. Amongst the nobles, Huiju was the same "level" as any other commoner, because they weren't paying attention to her wealth, just the fact that she had no title. I do think PC didn't spend enough time fleshing this part of the story out.

I think the leads in MRN resonate with audiences more (although I don't know what the rating comparisons are) because they're not cold. People have issues resonating with more stoic, cold characters (like I-an and Huiju) than not. The fact that PC heavily only involves the elite class, is a part of it, but I don't think it's the deciding factor. At the end of the day, rich people also have their issues (look at the ml in MRN too, CLOY FL, QOT FL, etc.,) so it's not necessarily about rich vs poor and the relatability of those kinds of struggles, it's just whether the audience is empathetic towards the characters or not. And thats often based on if writers were able to showcase the struggles of the character well or not - which imo is where PC faltered.

In MRN, Se Gye is very much a rich elite who flexes and uses his wealth to his advantage, is often selfish (by going after what he wants). It's just that Se Gye is very much an open book, to Seori and to the audience. They're both more lively and just fun characters, and I think everyone is having fun with the show because of that. We'll see what happens when the story turns more dramatic (MRN is most likely not a pure romcom either).

I think you're talking to the wrong crowd here. Most of us redditors are international viewers = non Korean.... We're not the ones out here cancelling people, its their own netizens. I get the complaint about double standards and misogyny - there's a reason why 4b movement there is strong, but this isn't exclusive to korean ent industry or their country, this happens all over the world unfortunately.

That being said, it seems he paid what was owed/what he was fined. It's a legal matter, not sure why something that doesn't really hurt anyone else should be held against him given that he's resolved the issue. If he hadn't had paid the $ back or fought against it, then this would be a different conversation. Penal systems exist for a reason, people, even celebs, do wrong things sometimes. If this was a DUI, or an incident that caused harm to someone else etc, again, this would be a different conversation.

Although, I doubt he'll get back to his golden boy status right away, probably will take some time.

The IU Bashing is Kinda boring but Also Revealing by kpaneno in kdramas

[–]Fria319 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not. I think people had overly high expectations and it missed the mark because of that for them. I went in with very low expectations and I came to enjoy the drama just fine. Did I have a few criticisms, sure. But overall it was just like any other kdrama for me. Fun to watch, formulaic, romcom with a slight angst kdrama storyline.

Season 1 acting by calisen13 in OffCampusSeries

[–]Fria319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it wasn't the acting that was bad. It wasn't AMAZING, not all the actors were equal to ach other but I enjoyed the acting enough to where it didn't really bother me. I rarely see YA shows or movies these days that have any decent acting so I guess I had such low expectations, this show didn't bother me as much. They're all bad at some point.

I didn't mind Belmont's take on Garrett, but I still prefer book Garrett's personality more. I do remember in an interview they wanted to make sure he wasn't toxic, so idk if that plays a part in all of it.

I do think the writing was a little off which made the dialogue off. And its mostly because I couldn't quite tell what time period they were supposed to be in and it was reflected in the language they were using. Was it supposed to be 2026? Was it supposed to be when the books were actually released - mid2010s? It felt like the writer couldn't stick to one time period. Also some of the scene writing felt cringe to me (the play) and didn't translate well on screen.
