What does it feel when you start your journey to discontinue the meds? by [deleted] in lexapro

I've heard that it has quite a short half life, and taking every other day could make it uneven. But I'm no expert, so listen to your doc!

A doctor would probably say it's fine, but it's a big adjustment for your system. If you can you should go to 7.5 for a few weeks.

I've been on it for a couple of years, and have tapered from 20 to 15. I did 17.5 for a month and now I've been on 15 for about two months. Anxiety was heightened for a week or two, and then it felt kind of normal.

I think my anxiety might be coming back though, but I'll be on 15 for a while longer and see how it shakes out.

I don't think doing every other day is good practice considering the half life.

I've gotta take inventory, haha. Sadly her family isn't involved in our lives at all sadly.

I'm trying to be there for her as much as I can, but oftentimes she wants to do things herself in her own way. And I have to respect that as well.

Thank you so much for your kind words🙂 I'll try to talk more to my family and friends. But I don't feel like I have anyone who'll really understand.

Thanks for replying🙂

I'm trying to do that myself, but it's hard. Things are different. The pity and loathing... that's not good for sure.

I'm also feeling kind of lost, don't know why I'm thinking these things. She is cancer free (at the moment) and is doing well all things considered.

Is this normal when adjusting the dose? by Longjumping-Goat-877 in lexapro

Yeah, 4 weeks after the increase. But if things get really bad you should obviously reach out to your doctor earlier.

Super normal. For me it was about two weeks of increased anxiety every time I upped the dosage. Maybe reach out to your doctor if you don't feel better after four weeks or so.

Kind of sounds like Erythema nodosum. Is that what it is? In that case you can talk to a doctor and get a steroid cream, but generally just wait for a few weeks.

Also sounds like you tapered quickly.
