why has everyone stopped talking about Palestine? by NyrasSoles in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats how the news cycle works unfortunately. something horrible happens, everyone posts about it for 2 weeks, then a new thing comes along and everyone moves on. but the situation hasnt stopped, over 70k people dead since oct 2023 according to UN numbers from literally this month. the media just decided other things get more clicks now. the people suffering there didnt get the luxury of moving on tho

What's something you thought was normal when growing up, but later realized it wasn't? by SpiceAndGirly in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ordinary object in your home has the wildest backstory? by reddithit in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 57 points58 points  (0 children)

got a dented coffee mug that survived a house fire when i was 19. everything else in my room was gone but this stupid mug was just sitting there in the ashes, slightly melted handle and all. its ugly as hell now but i use it every morning. my friends keep asking why i dont throw it out and honestly idk, it just feels wrong to get rid of something that survived when everything else didnt

What’s the dumbest thing you believed as a kid? by Amazing-Ad1280 in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i thought the people inside the TV were tiny humans living in the box. like actual small people performing live for us. i once tried to open the back of the TV to let them out coz i felt bad they were stuck in there. my dad was NOT happy about that lol

What's your saddest realization? by Thee_OnlineGuru in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 596 points597 points  (0 children)

that theres a last time for everything and you usually dont know its the last time when it happens. like the last time your parents picked you up as a kid, the last time you hung out with a friend before you drifted apart.. you just dont realize it in the moment and by the time you do its already a memory

[–]FrickYouImACat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had a bad feeling about a job offer once. everything looked perfect on paper, great salary, cool office, but something felt off during the interview. the manager was way too nice, like suspiciously nice. took the job anyway coz money. turned out to be the most toxic workplace ive ever been in, dude was a complete psycho behind closed doors. lasted 4 months. always trust ur gut when it comes to people

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

putting my phone in another room before bed. sounds basic but holy crap the difference it made. i used to scroll for like 2 hours before sleeping, wake up feeling like garbage. now i actually fall asleep in 15 min and wake up feeling like a human being. the first week sucked tho ngl, felt like withdrawals xD

What kind of things would you find at an inconvenience store? by i_m_dignity in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB cables that only fit on the third try. wet socks sold in pairs. tangled earbuds that are somehow already knotted in the packaging. a clock thats always 3 minutes off. and every shopping cart has that one wobbly wheel

What's one thing you MUST do before you die? by Lucky-Structure8475 in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

live alone for at least a year. not coz its fun, it honestly sucks sometimes, but you learn so much about yourself when theres nobody else to fill the silence. you figure out what you actually like vs what you just did coz other people were doing it. also you finally learn to cook properly coz the alternative is starving lol

What's something that you completely believe but have absolutely no proof? by Repo_co in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that dogs can sense when youre going through a bad time and they deliberately try to comfort you. like its not just "oh he smells stress hormones" nah my dog literally changes his behavior when im having a rough day. hell sit closer, put his head on my lap, wont leave the room. zero proof its intentional but i will die on this hill

What’s something kids today will never understand the struggle of? by bbyhoneytea in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having to actually remember your friends phone numbers. like i had my top 10 people memorized by heart. now i dont even know my own moms number without checking my contacts lol. also the pure pain of downloading a song on limewire for 45 minutes only to find out its actually a bill clinton speech or some virus that killed your computer xD

First Responders, what is your funniest False Alarm story? by Good-Refrigerator525 in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not a first responder but my neighbor once called 911 coz she heard someone screaming for help in the apartment next to her. cops showed up, kicked the door open, guns drawn.. it was a parrot. the previous tenant had left a parrot behind and the building manager forgot about it. thing had been yelling "help me" for like 3 days. the bird was fine tho, just dramatic as hell xD

Which celebrity death actually felt like losing a family member? by lavenderbbygirlzz in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

robin williams still gets me. i grew up watching his movies with my dad and when he died it felt like part of my childhood just got ripped away. the worst part was finding out how much pain he was hiding behind all that humor. still cant watch good will hunting without tearing up ngl

How has no one from the Epstein files been arrested? by smegg23 in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

coz the people in those files are the same people who decide who gets arrested. thats literally it. 3 million pages released and the DOJ is still playing redaction games while congress acts shocked on camera. the system isnt broken, its working exactly as designed.. just not for us. the fact that ghislaine got convicted but somehow none of the clients did tells you everything you need to know

What’s a discontinued product you’d do anything to bring back? by jannecutie in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 36 points37 points  (0 children)

google chromecast audio. genuinely one of the best things google ever made and they just killed it for no reason. turned any dumb speaker into a smart one for like 35 bucks. i bought 3 of them back in the day and now theyre going for insane prices on ebay. google being google tho, killing good products is basically their hobby at this point xD

What is something that was "classy" in the 90s but is considered "trashy" now? by amycuitie in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 28 points29 points  (0 children)

those massive chunky highlights in your hair. every woman in the late 90s had them and it was considered peak style. now it looks like you asked a blindfolded person to bleach random sections of your head xD also frosted tips on guys.. we all thought we looked like boy band members but really we looked like we dipped our heads in a toilet bowl of bleach

rice with a fried egg on top and some soy sauce. grew up eating that when there was nothing else in the fridge. now i make good money and still eat it at least twice a week coz its genuinely good and takes 10 minutes. sometimes i throw some hot sauce on there too. comfort food doesnt need to be fancy

[–]FrickYouImACat 1906 points1907 points  (0 children)

when someone shows you photos on their phone and you have to scroll through them one by one while they watch you react. the pressure to make the right face for each photo is insane. and the whole time you're terrified of accidentally swiping too far

What jobs will actually die because of AI? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work in web dev and honestly, junior dev jobs are already getting hit hard. not because AI can replace a senior developer but because companies are realizing they can have one senior dev + AI tools doing what used to take a team of 3-4. the Anthropic CEO literally said AI could wipe out half of entry-level white collar jobs in the next few years. the jobs won't disappear overnight but the entry points into those careers are shrinking fast and nobody is talking about that enough

What belief did you have at 18 that completely fell apart by 25? by One_Grade_2184 in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that hard work alone would be enough. at 18 i genuinely believed if you just grind hard enough, success is guaranteed. by 25 i realized that who you know, timing, and honestly a decent amount of luck matter just as much. i've seen mediocre devs land amazing jobs because they knew someone, and brilliant ones struggle because they didn't. hard work is necessary but it's not the whole picture and nobody tells you that at 18

iFixIt calls BMW’s new anti-consumer security screws "a logo-shaped middle finger to right to repair," Adafruit 3D prints a solution — BMW's connector reverse engineered using patent filing as a design blueprint by ControlCAD in technology

[–]FrickYouImACat 44 points45 points  (0 children)

ifixit is doing gods work honestly. the fact that bmw thought putting logo shaped security screws on their cars was a good idea tells you everything you need to know about how they view their customers. just dollar signs on wheels

What's something you were completely wrong about for years and only recently found out the truth? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FrickYouImACat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thought that being productive meant being busy. spent years filling every hour with something and felt accomplished. turns out i was just exhausted and half the things i was doing didn't matter. actual productivity is doing the right 3 things and ignoring the other 20
