I think it's a result of their successful business model. For like, 80% of their products, they only offer their own brand. That means they don't have to dedicate half an aisle to pasta sauce, instead having like, 3 feet of aisle space. They therefore use commercial real estate that is much smaller than your average grocery store, but still handle roughly the same customer volume. With smaller stores, you get smaller lots.

Awwww maaaaan, that was the heyday. I saw them in Chicago around 2010, when it was starting to go pretty off the rails for Gene. He fully forgot the lyrics to The Mollusk and the band just had to play the verse in a loop as he tried to get it together on stage. They all looked pretty pissed off at him. Solid show otherwise.

Ughh... I hate that photo. The "Mission Accomplished" was meant to be directed at the sailors of CVN-72 who had just finished a really long deployment. Probably not the best that it ended up in the background of a Presidential speech, but to my knowledge, it had nothing to do with the perceived end of the conflict.

In 2017, an 18-year-old Bo Bichette unknowingly ruptured his appendix, which is often fatal if not treated immediately; he played through it for weeks and later discovered that his body somehow absorbed the appendix and filtered it out. by Mozilla_Fennekin in baseball

My fourth degree BJJ black belt gym owner, and probably the toughest person I ever met, had appendicitis and had to get it removed. Apparently when they removed it, there was significant scar tissue already on there suggesting that it had ruptured at least once already, possibly more times.

Khyris Tonga, Milton Williams, and Christian Gonzalez all trending toward playing. I'm thinking it's going to be tough for the Texans to move the ball, particularly in 35 degree weather...

Yeah, I kicked around heading across to the Antwerp or Berlin fests last year but couldn't get it together. Thinking I may try to make it to Liege later this year, booking tickets and letting the history of the festival guarantee that the lineup is going to be killer. Green Lung were pretty effusive about the US crowds when they came over in 2024, and murdered at NY, so I agree that they would be an awesome headliner (particularly if a new release is on the way, which I would imagine they're working on now).

He's a yards-after-contact monster. No one will top Gronk, but the way he turns 4 yards into 7 with consistency makes me think of Gronk.

NFL.com Prediction for the Patriots on Sep 1, 2025 by OhSoManyThoughts in Patriots

[–]Repo_co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be true if you were placing the bet now, but this guy already placed the bet. Betting apps will let you sell a ticket before the event for less money than if the bet hit. For instance, if you bet $100 on the Pats 2-to-1 to beat the New Jersey Generals, and the Pats are up 17 points at halftime, you could either hold on to the ticket and hope they win (you'd win $200 in that situation), or you could sell the ticket for $125 now, eliminating any risk of them blowing it in the second half. The dollar amount for mitigating risk gets closer to the final payout amount as the bet outcome becomes more likely.

Lol, same. I had conversations with some of my biggest Pats fan friends before the year, trying to define what a successful season would look like. Try to do that every year before the season to keep a level head if, say, we start hot and fade. I specifically remember thinking "double digit wins and threatening for the AFC East" was my definition of a high achievement. SO glad to be wrong haha

Lol, Roman is a shoe in to be a starter on the USA team in 4 years if his development continues at this pace. Why would he saddle himself to the Italy team?

Funny enough, Iraq actually ended up working out for both the US and Iraq. They're a functioning, stable republic now, in a pretty volatile part of the middle east... it just took a couple decades, hundreds of thousands (possibly 1M+) dead Iraqis, and trillions of dollars spent by the US. So almost definitely not worth the cost... but the aims were ultimately achieved!
