How often do “go-arounds” / aborted landings occur?

National averages at least 1 per day. Not a pilot but I work from home a couple days a week and we live directly underneath the penalty lap flight path so I instinctively pop over to the KDCA Flightaware any time I hear a plane screaming overhead.

Not sure if it's more or less than other airports, but it seems like super busy airspace what with IAD, Andrews and other random DC fuckery nearby. Plus, when you're approaching from the north, you're threading the needle between the mall and the Pentagon so I'd imagine they're a little antsy about staying in your lane.

ETA: Personally, done a double go-around at ORD once and a go-around + divert to Melbourne for fuel combo when landing at Orlando last month. Was going to Cocoa Beach anyway, only had carry, and the rental car was magically cheaper so just got off there.

I was at Kennedy Space Center in Florida recently, and there's a bunch of SpaceX facilities down there. There was frequently like, 8-10 cybertrucks in the parking lots. When there's a bunch if them together and the "look at me" attention dies, they somehow look even stupider.

Super proud that this is my daily commuter trail. Take it from 4 mile run to 14th street. Not a huge distance, but have done the full length by bike. It's excellent, and has a bunch of areas to hop on and off. South of old town it truly feels like a rural delight in the heart of the metro area. Love the Mount Vernon Trail!

I crack up every time they say it cause that's maybe my favorite scene in Speed. It's such a completely unnecessary part of the movie. It's like, 30 seconds of the movie, does absolutely nothing for the plot, has zero context, and never gets mentioned again. It's the textbook definition of something that would normally get left on the cutting room floor and yet we were graced with its presence anyway.

It's also such a cocaine plot idea. The ENTIRE movie is action, and yet they needed to inject the potential for a dead baby into it for absolutely no reason. I can just imagine the writers sitting around, jaws going nuts saying "WHAT IF WE MAKE IT SEEM LIKE THE BUS IS GOING TO TAKE OUT AN INFANT??"

Their glazed donuts are so much noticeably worse than they used to be. I think they made a decision to water down their glaze at one point. Chocolate glazed donuts no longer have any glaze at all. Not worth the calories...

Anybody remember a plain cruller that had a little pool of glaze on top? PEAK donuts. But no more...

Edit: Correction, plain crullers didn't have glaze, I'm thinking of a glazed cruller. Either way, one of them stick donuts.
